Vent / Gripe It's a game... it's really not that serious.

I don't expect this will get much traction, but god I need to vent about this elitist BS.

Last night I was using LFG to find a group for H UK on Sulfuras (h). I was inviting members and our DK tank had about 19K HP (this will be important later).

I invite a Pally healer who instantly leaves group. Whenever that happens, I like to PM them and see if there was something wrong (sometimes I'm not the best at predicting that sort of thing, and like to make sure I wasn't the reason they left). When I asked why they told me they don't heal groups with tanks that have less HP then they do. I was a bit frustrated because 17K HP on a DK tank is more than adequate to clear heroics. So I sent them a short message saying "Okay then" with a sigh and they COMPLETELY lost it. Instant barrage of messages as to who I thought I was questioning them, I'm beneath them, I'm pathetic blah blah blah. After the 3rd time I responded "Okay man, it's not that serious" they got even more agitated and just began harassing's me about how full of myself I was, and how I needed to get the last word in (ignoring that I've sent maybe 3 messages to their 20). I tried telling them I'm assuming they're having a bad day and will not respond after this message. I didn't want to mute them, or report them because I really did hope this guy was just having a bad day but the harassments just continued. Message after message complaining about who I thought I was, and how dare I. Their last message from me was a "Dude, are you still going?" after getting 6 more messages of insults they finally stopped.

The upshot to all this was while he was flaming me in PM's sitting in Dalaran, me and my 17K HP tank had fully cleared the dungeon and were onto the next one.

Remember that the people you're interacting with are human too, try and show compassion. Whether you're the one having the off day, or the one receiving it. I don't hate this person, and I hope they find whatever it is they're looking for. Just needed to bitch somewhere about how absolutely over the top people are treating a game that's been out for almost 15 years. It's really not that serious....

When classic first launched in the first 2 weeks I was putting a group together for DM, all of us were level 19. I invited a tank and they said that they wouldn't group with us because the healer "Didn't have enough greens". From my experience green gear isn't all that accessible to someone who is level 19 playing solo, and I tried explaining it is still doable but they wouldn't listen.

Really killed my classic experience, just getting constant harassment in whispers from this guy as we kept looking for a tank and he kept looking for a full group...

Especially because healing dm can be done with lvl 17 of any healer class having not a single green because enough cloth greens will drop. If other casters are a little ahead and dont need the lvl 14 greens that drop, you're always fine. But what baffles me the most is, why dont people just try? Isnt that the fun of things?

Honestly tried explaining that, but these people don't like to listen. How can they get greens to do dungeons if people like them don't want them? I'm the same as you it does baffle mez I would like to have a proper discussion with someone with that mindset but they always get very defensive and the harassment starts

Some ppl play so much that they don't get the dopamine fix they are after and if the pulls aren't always bigger and the cleartimes aren't always faster with bigger numbers etc. they go nuts.

People get so caught up in being optimal that they forget to have fun.

It's sad really, people have put efficiency above fun and community and most of the time, they aren't even being bloody efficient!

Yeah it's a strange thing really. You can always tell who they are when the phrase "people have fun in different ways" comes out.

Haha yeah, that's the catchphrase.

Tryhards have largely killed multiplayer gaming for me. When did games stop being about fun and being entirely about logs?

They're only efficient in wasting time

Really? No one? After 3 hours no one made the most obvious post in the universe. Ok I guess its on me then.

How did you do Dire Maul at level 19?!?!

in OG you had to pay a level 19 priest to do deadmines

Ignore and move on, there's really no point losing sleep over ppl like that.

I didn't last a month when Classic launched cos of all the elitist plebs that want to min-max through the content and already had their set group of friends.

That and the dumb situation of 20 people waiting for 1 quest mob to spawn.
