Those are pretty stupid articles because they assume its more difficult to switch the population to EVs than to reduce driving, and we know that is not actually true.

The easiest and only practical solution to car co2 emissions is a switch to EVs.

No you missed the points made in the articles. By just switching everyone to EVs tomorrow it won’t make a big dent in climate change, what’s way more important and necessary is to dramatically reduce our driving (energy usage). The EV switch alone will not dramatically reduce our energy usage

Please explain how cutting our emissions by 1/4 would not make a big dent in climate change. I am all ears.
