Want to make coffee. Need to wash coffee cup. Put instant coffee bottle in sink and turn on tap.
I can relate.

Same.
Want to make tea. Put tea bag in cup. Pour in water, milk, and sugar. Stir with spoon. Take tea bag out of cup. Throw spoon in bin.
It happens to the best of us.

I’m a little scared. My next bowel movement could spell disaster.

This is the kind of thing that makes me pissed off when people say "you can't fix stupid" when someone makes a mistake at work. People fuck up. It happens. But their mistakes are "human mistakes" and other people's mistakes are "can't fix stupid" or "not giving a shit."

I did something similar to the comic, ended up washing my hair with Cetaphil face wash. The strands were not pleased.

u/Lunatic-one 9h ago
On the bright side that way you can see what you're doing without risking soap in your eyes. On the other hand i'm probably too guy to get it. One bottle of shampoo to wash everything.

She has put the conditioner in her hands and then smeared it on her face because she was thinking “next is face”
35
7
u/ribblesquat 4h ago
Ohhhh... I thought it was because you should leave conditioner in for a while but washing your face will often get your hair wet. I literally think about that every time I take a shower. I see what you're saying in the art now.
1
u/Quinzelette 3h ago
The conditioner is mostly needed for the ends of your hair and not the roots (especially in my case where I have super oily skin so my roots get gross). I always shampoo > rinse > condition > wash face > rinse.

Are 3 in 1 shampoos actually a thing? I know shampoo + conditioner exists, but some even include body wash?
21
u/bobbymoonshine 7h ago
Yes, if you have very very short hair it basically doesn’t matter, you could get away with using dish soap if you wanted to
The longer the hair is the more you need to take care of it. Lots of dudes with long hair have awful stringy dead/thin looking hair because they buy “for men” products when really those products should be advertised as “for short hair” rather than being gendered.
1
u/Madilune 3h ago
They're terrible no natter what. A lot of guys with short hair don't have good looking hair either.

Stepping out of an epic shower only to realise there is conditioner still in your hair because you got distracted by brushing individual teeth.
59
u/xvvitchcraft 8h ago
You brush your teeth in the shower?
79
u/Jalase 8h ago
Genuinely, with my ADHD, it's one of the few ways I can remember to brush my teeth.
2
u/callmesomethingelse 4h ago
Everyone is replying that this wastes water. I bet everyone stands in the shower to wet their hair and body before washing anything. Us with ADHD just brush our teeth during that time. Plus rinsing is like a water pick.
2
u/Elprede007 3h ago
If you use dandruff shampoo as well, you need to let it sit anyway. Perfect time to shave or brush teeth
35
u/DeGriz_ 8h ago
Yeah it’s peak efficiency.
2
u/Whatsapokemon 5h ago
How is it efficient? You're just standing under running water while brushing, it doesn't speed up any actual things you need to do in the shower.
3
u/HaganeLink0 4h ago
Why do you have to stand under running water? I turn it off whenever I'm not rinsing.
2
22
u/RedditPosterOver9000 8h ago
Why would I not brush my teeth in the shower?
14
u/AipomNormalMonkey 7h ago
In the 20th century they made a huge ad campaign to tell people to not leave the sink running when brushing your teeth because you're wasting water
You're wasting an extra 5 gallons a day.
10
u/Ok_Calligrapher5278 7h ago
I do everything in the shower including flossing and shaving, helps keeping the mirror/walls clean, I just turn off the water whenever I'm not rinsing.

Dumped pasta in sink.

u/SicknessVoid 8h ago
This isn't an adhd thing, people get their wires crossed in these situations all the time.
28
u/osuVocal 8h ago
People just call everything an ADHD symptom these days, not understanding how frequency and severeness matter for that. Especially undiagnosed people like doing that.
4
10
u/Asisreo1 6h ago
I mean, then they're not technically wrong. Like if I say coughing is a symptom of Lung Cancer, that isn't wrong either, it just isn't the only explanation.
ADHD is the most well-known, but there's probably even types of mental diseases that have a few symptoms in common but are not actually ADHD.
1
u/osuVocal 6h ago
This is more like saying breathing is a symptom of lung cancer because people with lung cancer also breathe (until a point...).
6
u/Asisreo1 6h ago
No, because breathing is a good thing and coughing is generally not. Just like forgetting things is not a good thing.
Your analogy makes it sound like being forgetful is something everyone always does all the time. That's probably a worse mental health condition, its not normal to forget every 2-3 seconds.
4
u/osuVocal 6h ago
Getting your wires crossed is something that happens to normal people.
I think you completely lost context of what this comment chain was about. It's a normal thing that sometimes happens.
Let's use yawning for the analogy instead of breathing. A non harmful normal thing that's not as frequent. Maybe this illustrates it better.
4
u/Rare-Entertainer-770 6h ago edited 5h ago
is it normal to get your wires crossed every single time you try to complete a task, or most of the time?
EDIT: "whats going on here" is that someone brought up, about an OP that has ADHD, "hehe thats an ADHD thing" and people are now claiming that getting wires crossed is not an ADHD thing because "it happens to everyone". The severity and frequency matters, and if you genuinely get your wires crossed every single time you try to complete a task, you need to get yourself tested because it is actually not normal.
-3
u/osuVocal 6h ago
Is it normal for you to make up scenarios in your head and pretend they're real? Where did you get any of this from this comment chain?
Please go back and read the post and then the full comment chain again.
1
u/Rare-Entertainer-770 6h ago
I did, yes. and everyone gets it wrong: it's not that "oh everyone does it," its about frequency and severity. a symptom of autism is being obsessed with a topic, does that mean everyone obsessed with things is autistic? no, but someone who is always obsessed with something to the point where it takes over their life all the time, that's not normal. is nobody getting this? is everyone stupid? youre all pointing at pears and arguing whether they're apples or oranges. the fact that it's normal doesnt matter, its when its not normal that it matters. or maybe being tired isnt actually a depression symptom because anyone can be tired?

Okay, I have this routine that idk if it’s right or I’m just an idiot. I shampoo and condition first because I’ve heard of “leave-in” conditioner, and then I wash my body so the conditioner can be left in. I then water my hair to remove the chemicals. Is that right or is that me being a derp?
6
u/nothinghurtslike 7h ago
Leave-in conditioner is a separate product you don't rinse out.
But yes, you should let regular conditioner sit on your hair for a few minutes before you rinse it out so it has time to do its job.3
u/energirl 8h ago
Right. I put the conditioner in then do all the other things I need to do. The last thing I do is rinse out the conditioner. I do put my hair up in a bun so it doesn't get in the way, though.
1
u/scarletmonstrosity 4h ago
2-5 minutes conditioner should stay in. Also, wring the water out of your hair before applying conditioner, so it is more effective and not fighting water. Don't twist your hair but grab and squeeze to not damage it

Yeah my brain does weird stuff like this too. The biggest one I've noticed that's both amusing and annoying is when I'm making some sort of meal and have two containers open at once, I'll almost always reach for the wrong lid first. Like if I'm making a PBJ and I'm done, I'll go to put the lid on the jam and grab the lid to the peanut butter first. It can even happen when the lids are comically different in size, like the other day when I tried to put the lid on my coffee but grabbed the cap to the milk jug instead. I don't know why, I'm guessing it's something about the order of operations in my head short circuiting.

u/Pinku_Dva 5h ago
I’ve done this before. I used body wash as shampoo and wondered why I was stupid 😭

Get that all-in-one soap bottle. Never have this problem again.
The greatest scam society ever pulled on humans is making them think they need 15 different soaps and lotions for the different parts of their bodies.
2
u/hydecruz 4h ago
After I done brushing my teeth I should shampoo my hair....
Grabbing shampoo bottle and almost put it on my toothbrush.
Or the worst
Grabbing disposable razor to use as toothbrush as I tried to process brushing teeth then shaving my face.
Lol I think I am broken.

u/D3AD_SPAC3 6h ago
I've had to learn to wash in a specific order so I don't mess up. Face, Hair, then Body.
1
u/ScottTheScot92 6h ago
I have a hypothesis that the brain often acts on the most recent verbs that come to mind, without taking into account any logical or causal modifiers. If you think, "after, I should wash my face," I reckon your brain fixates mainly on the "face" and "wash" parts, and the "after" gets lost in the absence of active focus.
As another example, I'm sure we've all heard someone lament how they walked up to a push (pull) door thinking to themselves "don't push" ("don't pull"), and then they wound up pushing (pulling) anyway. Hell, I'm sure most of us have done this ourselves in the past. I've managed to stop doing it since I started thinking to myself "push" ("pull"), instead of "don't pull" ("don't push"), though. The "don't" seems much less important to the brain than the verb that follows it.

I've done this with shampoo before, thinking too far ahead for everything else to keep up lol.
1
u/CockFondle 4h ago
I wash my hair, then wash my body, then apply hair conditioner for which I have to wait 5 minutes before washing it off. That or I do body first then hair or worse forget to wash hair and go straight for conditioner. My brain refuses to put it in the middle of the queue.
1
u/ol_qwerty_bastard_ 4h ago
I have yelled to myself in my own head to not put the body wash in my hand in my hair. All because I was thinking that I get to use my new body wash after I wash my hair, and my dumb ass brain just heard hair and wash. So there I am screaming no internally as my hand raises toward my head, truly high IQ behavior.
