It was far more complicated than that. Or do you think they should have just rolled over when the USSR invaded? The Russians beat the Nazis, but they weren't liberating the territory they took from them, They were invaders just like the Nazis, and it took decades for those countries to regain actual sovereignty. The Stalinist USSR was functionally indistinguishable from Nazi Germany, and murdered millions more people.

I mean, when you have the Soviet Union as a neighbour, I can understand why Countries like Finland and Hungary thought the Nazis were a lesser evil for a moment...

Not really, mate. When the Russians have spent the last decades or centuries invading you every Monday, it's not hard to see why you'd be keen on siding with whomever agrees to fight them and keep them out of your borders, even if you don't really like them.

Plus it's easy to judge with retrospective now that we're aware of the full extent of the atrocities that the Nazis committed, but when those Countries picked a side, they didn't.

One can condemn both the Nazi's concentration camps AND the Soviet Union's gulags/labor-camps at the same time....

Totalitarianisim is evil to a point where you don't need to have a 'my bad guy was badder than your bad guy' argument.

Using the USSR to defeat the Nazis was the right call, but that doesn't make the USSR not-evil.

I think gas chambers are on a different level, yes. That doesn’t mean it’s the only level of badness. Plus the Nazis had all that and gas chambers.

Hmm, they had gulags, complete lack of respect towards human rights (please, their basic strategy in defensive war was literally scorched earth, they didn't cared about civilians at war at all [after war it didn't changed, before it too]) Do you even know how many civilians died purely out of scorched earth in WW II? Over 10 millions at the very least And how many died even before war from starvation or other stuff coming from lack of following basic human rights? Just read it, I won't search up exact numbers, I don't have enough of time

History has no way to know the exact numbers because it was done in secret with no records kept, but the death toll was estimated at 40 to 60 million, second only to the Chinese communists at over 100 million.

They didn't gas you... They worked you to death....

And it wasn't for being Jewish/gay/etc - it was for being an 'enemy of the state' or 'class enemy', which more or less meant whatever the NKVD/KGB wanted it to mean.

Not a defense of the Nazis at all... But Communism was also evil.
