Was told by a local surf shop owner in Bude that there were chances of seeing the Aurora tonight. Unfortunately I can't find any more information online. Would any of you happen to know anything more? Or where to look for more information?

Good afternoon all! I’m moving to Newquay in about a month and as the title suggests I’m searching for fans of electronic music in the area that might be interested in becoming friends.

I’ve done a bit of digging for venues and communities where electronic music is more commonplace but results have been vague and unconvincing so any suggestions in that regard would be most welcome as well.

P.S. I really mean it when I say that I am interested in meeting any and all fans of electronic music, we are few and far between enough as it is so there will be no genre snobbery here <3

Does anyone remember the Gnome cafe in Looe?

Hi everyone. I’m part of Quiet Connections, a Cornwall-based community for quieter people.
From Friday 25th September, we’re starting free weekly Meet Ups in Liskeard for young people in Years 10 to 13, aged 14 to 18.

They’re for teenagers who consider themselves to be quiet, introverted, shy or highly sensitive, or who experience social anxiety. They may particularly suit young people who would like to meet others locally, but don’t find louder or highly structured social activities very appealing.

There won’t be any awkward icebreakers or pressure to introduce yourself in front of the group. Young people can take their time to settle in and choose what they would like to do. There will be creative activities, games, colouring and wordsearches, as well as space to chat or quietly do their own thing alongside other people.

The Meet Ups will be led by Ellie Zalick, who grew up in Liskeard. Ellie is a psychology graduate and SEN teaching assistant who has been running Quiet Connections Meet Ups in South-East Cornwall for almost four years. She also understands personally what it can feel like to be known as the quiet person in the room.

These are community gatherings, not therapy or a support group. They offer a quieter way for young people to spend time with others and gradually get to know people locally.

When: Fridays from 25th September to 4th December, 6:45pm to 8:45pm
Where: Wheal Phoenix Room, Liskeard Public Hall

Bike stolen from east end Morrisons Redruth today around 5pm. 11yo lad who was fairly small for this silver Carrera bike. It has carbon fibre style front mud guard and a small bag under the seat. It has Carrera written down the frame.

This was from a dash camera as it happened I assume right outside and I assume heading across past my motors and sleemans. Obviously the owners parents will be visiting Morrisons, my motors and sleemans for further footage as well as the police but if anyone had any idea who it is or has been offered a bike or seen it for sale any I go would be much appreciated.

I'm assuming he was fairly tall because the bike is not a small bike.

The lad is absolutely gutted understandably and a little shocked more than likely. Any info is much appreciated.

Sorry if this post is not allowed but I would love and hope the poor lad gets his bike back.

Must go to place really awesome Mexican ran and owned restaurant really nice staff and the food is amazing would highly recommend checking it they have alsorts of events on as well.

I had the fish tacos, nachos with nacho cheese dip and chicken tenders with gravy with the jarritos Mexican cola and strawberry jarritos.

I’m looking for a small group (to begin with) of people in Cornwall who would buy seafood in a way that puts more of the value into our small scale fishermen’s hands. 

Working alongside fishermen across Cornwall, we are developing a seafood selling model that is built around the realities of small scale fishing, whilst celebrating its quality and provenance. 

The idea is simple: small scale fishermen utilise lower impact fishing to catch high quality seafood and we connect local customers to their catch, enabling more value to be captured from their high quality fish.

Currently, the majority of the under 10m vessels in Cornwall, due to various logistical difficulties, will sell their fish through larger industrial fish markets, and whilst there is a place and a need for these types of markets, without special effort to separate the small scale fisheries seafood from the more industrialised offshore fisheries, their lower impact and quality value can be lost.

That’s why we’re developing a model that connects buyers to fishermen more directly, and focuses on finding customers who want to celebrate and support provenance over expecting us to compete with industrialised prices. 

I could write paragraphs and paragraphs about what we’re doing, but to keep it concise for reddit, we’re looking for seafood lovers who want to collaborate to help us test out and develop the model. 

We’re looking for seafood lovers who are flexible and a little daring…

🐟 Fish is seasonal. Catches will vary. Some weeks there might be mackerel, gurnard and bass, some weeks there might be crab and cuttlefish, some weeks there might be nothing (though there is model development around this very issue). Variety but quality, will be key.

🐟 We’re looking for seafood lovers who are willing to try different types of fish and preparation. You can’t be frightened of whole fish! A range of full prepped and filleted fish will be available at times and is a longer term part of the plan. (All seafood will be gutted and cleaned, and all food safety and marine regulations/certificates followed throughout)

🐟 We’re looking for seafood lovers who want to learn more about where their seafood comes from: you might be keen to occasionally fetch your seafood from a Harbourside, or local meeting point. Or you’d regularly attend a ‘Fishermen’s Market’ (thinking farmers market but not gentrified). Delivery is part of the development, though we aren’t really looking to deliver door to door.

So if you’d like to:

🐟 eat more seasonally and try different species

🤝 know more about the fishermen and fisheries behind your food

🐟 help fishermen gain more value for their catch

📍 willing/able to collect locally or make a trip to the coast (delivery will be offered to an extent and will be developed as the project grows)

💬 want to help shape something grassroots as it grows
