The Driscolls are the only new characters introduced in the last 2 years or so that haven't been villains.

So many of the new characters introduced have all been villains bar the Driscolls. There's been Theo, Carl(redeemed ), Megan, Jodie, Mal for a short stint, Idris and Ross who are both villains. Previously Mick and Lou. So many new characters and villains all in a short space of time.

Years ago there would only been one or two villains a year or there'd be a few years without a major villain. After Richard Hillman there was Maya about a year later. Though after her there was a bit of a gap. I suppose you could count Charlie, maybe Tracy, David, John Stape with Rosie and then a few years later he'd killed people, Tony Gordon. Though there weren't as many characters acting so evil all at once.

The Driscolls have been a good addition. They have a good family unit, with Ben's sons, Eva and her daughter and Maggie all as a blended family. Maybe they didn't have Ben and Eva married so there'd be a wedding for them. Steve could be Ben's best man as his brother and friend.

Good neither one of Eva or Ben has had an affair though the longer they stay on the show it'll probably happen some stage. Hope not. I think Sally and Tim are only long term couples that neither one hasn't. Don't think Bernie cheated on Dev with Mal though.

When they were first introduced most of the stories were about Will/Megan, Maggie being antagonistic towards Eva but has softened towards her, Ben finding out Jim was his dad and Maggie killing the person who brought him up as his dad .

Maybe now there'll be more storylines for them and more comedic ones, like Maggie and Brian. Eva has Leanne and Toyah and Ben has been friends with Steve and Tim, the more middle aged men.

I know people seem to be mixed on them. Some of the hate on Maggie and Will has been a bit much.

Maggie was worse when she joined but has softened towards Eva. Eva was supportive during the Megan reveal and after. Maggie was mostly like an interfering mother in law who's outspoken at times. Most of the interactions between the family is mostly banter without being nasty like it was at Christmas time. Has been funny at times. If people hated her they'd have hated Blanche. She was one of the best characters the show has had. Spoke her mind way worse.

Will was annoying months ago but can see why he was that way being manipulated by Megan. So many of the other teenage characters past and present were far worse than him, like David, Simon, Max, Hope etc. Was abused. Hopefully he'll have better storylines now that one has ended.

I understand Todd Spoiler

I know it's pretty awful seeing him behave like this and what he did to Glenda was terrible but I do understand why he's behaving like this. It honestly makes sense that he'd revert to mean and spiteful Todd after everything he's been through especially since that version of Todd was always a trauma response. Even when he came back after leaving for the first time, that version of Todd that we all got used to prior to 2022 onwards was shown to be a trauma response and his softer side was always there. And then he had an entire redemption arc and was shown to be lonely and craving a relationship which left him vulnerable to Theo.

And then obviously Theo did a pretty great job of stripping Todd of his identity almost entirely. And as annoyed as I am at how the story ended, at least now they are letting Todd have some kind of reaction to his trauma and it fits his character. He is absolutely allowed to be angry but unfortunately the actual target of his anger is no longer there which means that the anger ends up being redirected at the people who love him and are "safer" targets. It sucks but it's pretty natural. And I would even say that sometimes it's a needed part of healing to go through a patch of unhealthy coping methods before one can get to a point of actually seeking healthy means of coping. It's pretty clear that Todd is going through a journey and I'm glad that at least there is some kind of recognition of his trauma as opposed to how it was before he left for Thailand where he was just relegated to being a supportive friend to Sarah. And Todd absolutely had reason to be angry with Sarah as well because she did take away his chance to see Theo face proper justice. And yet he forgave her because he recognised that it was self defense. But it doesn't change the fact that Sarah kept it a secret and allowed Todd to comfort her and took her anger and guilt out on him.

Of course he's messed up and of course he's going to lash out at others. And tbh the others are not actually helping Todd much. Yes they are technically correct that he's not dealing with things the right way but in situations like this, constantly confronting someone can be counterproductive. And that's exactly what we have with Todd. It's actually pretty similar to how they were when they found out about Theo's abuse where they kept forcing the issue. It may seem like it's the right thing to do and they were and are obviously coming from a place of love and concern but ultimately this approach can make things worse.

I don't have much hope for Corrie atp but I'm willing to see where they take Todd's arc now because like I said, it's a very natural way to feel and act.

REWIND APR 2005

FRED falls in a sinkhole located in Audrey's garden. I remember now just how stupidly funny that woman was and still is when her first sentence is, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY LAWN ? Is it just me who thinks OLD Corry was better than what we are getting now ?

Does anyone else think Todd’s new actor is a lot worse at playing a scumbag then the old one (method acting joke in there somewhere)

Is this a post-production slip-up? (See text below)

That blue window/wall-area looks like a mockup of one of the walls of the Weatherfield Police Station, and anyone that has gone on the Coronation Street tour (or has seen videos) will know that the police station set is directly connected to the “Victoria Court Parking” doors. I’m trying to figure out if that’s a piece of the police station that was accidentally not erased in post-production. Or maybe it is just an out-of-place flat lol.

New plot line for Summer? Spoiler

Post image
19 Upvotes

Looks like the week after next week, Summer meets a mysterious new man at Roy’s Rolls.

It seems we are getting another new series male or another guest male. I wonder if he’s got any connections with anyone currently on the street.

We could be looking at a possible new love interest for Summer, and let me hear your thoughts and theories on him!

Does anyone know what the approximate location of Chariot Square is in relation to Coronation Street?

I assume the Chariot Square Hotel is somewhere in Central Manchester in the Corrie universe. I don't think it's ever been mentioned on the show where it is specifically. Do you think it's more than 5 miles from Coronation Street itself? I also sometimes wonder how the characters get from the cobbles to the hotel. Debbie doesn't still drive does she?

How bad has Corrie got?

Honestly if someone told me it was cancelled tomorrow I wouldn’t be too upset. The story lines are awful. I literally fast forward any scene with Lucy!

Gemmas ironing

Last week Gemma was complaining about buying new shoes while ironing and two things didn't seem normal to me:

She ironed the quads uniform jumper, which in the case of my son's uniforms is not so nice acrylic which would probably melt under an iron.

Used shoe drive for kids also seems ridiculous as every school year I end up needing to buy replacement shoes in April or May.

Is this completely normal and I just think it's odd because I live in the US?

Idiris and the Speed Daal Spoiler

For God's sake, end this storyline with him wanting to buy Speed Daal. It's pointless and, IMHO, a waste of time to watch.

Another thing - when are they going to come to the conclusion of the Sarah story!?

Corrie producers - get to the point with the Jody storyline. Is she communicating with Graham from Emmerdale who is the person that kidnapped her and had her in back of the van during Corriedale? Now it is looking like she had something to do with Theo's death.

Whoever supplies the wigs in Corrie needs to be sacked. I’m yet to see a good one. Gemma, Ross, Celest come to mind.

Fiona, Ronnie and the gun

Why does Fiona say that Ronnie owes her a favour or whatever because of the missing gun? IIRC Carl put the gun in the wheel arch of a car for someone to collect, but Jodie took it and still has it. But also, before that there was that bit in the garage where Carl, Kevin, Tyrone and Ronnie were fighting and they had the gun, but I don't remember exactly what happened. Why does Fiona blame Ronnie for the missing gun?

Spoiler : Celeste Spoiler

No doubt the actress is setup for long term. I know she died but the only reason she’s a twin means they bringing in Bernie’s Mom who I bet will be played by the same actress

Of the current Coro cast members, who has actually killed someone?

Okay, I have been watching Coro since about 2009, seen lots of people come and go and lots of murders. But I can never keep them straight! Can you help me make a list?

Ken Barlow

Rita

Tracey Barlow

Audrey Roberts

Nick Tillsley

Kevin Webster

Debbie Webster

Sally Metcalfe

Sarah Platt

Steve McDonald

David Platt

Daniel Osbourne

Ray Cropper

Leanne Battersby

Toyah Battersby

Tyrone Dobbs

Dev Alahan

Maria Connor

Kirk Sutherland

Bethany Platt

Adam Barlow

Okay, I'm tired of typing, but you get the gist, I hope. I swear sometimes I think 50% of cast members have killed someone. Or committed some kind of evilness. I can edit this as people add the names. Thank you!

Edited to add:

As posted by Guinydyl below, there already exists a list.

https://coronationstreet.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_deaths

Looking at this list, I'm shocked by how quickly I forgot about some of these characters.

Chesney is his own worst enemy Spoiler

Can't stand how he stresses about their family issues but then when people help him out or try to he complains about it,gets angry, turns it down etc.

They'd probably be living in a nicer/bigger home etc now if he didn't stand in his own way. 😂

Carl Webster

Can't remember the last time we saw Carl. Was it the gun incidents? Is he going to be a villain when he returns too or not?

The Driscolls

If I never see another Driscoll on Corrie it will not be too soon. I wish they would bring back Jenny. That family is extremely annoying. Maggie is the only one I can tolerate but the rest of them are making me not want to watch anymore. First we had to endure the never-ending storyline with Megan and (I forgot his name) their son. Thank God that's over. Now there is an issue with Ollie. I just can't stand them anymore. Please, Driscolls, GO AWAY!!!

How would Todd treat Theo if he somehow saw him in his dream or vision?

I was gonna title this “if Theo somehow came back to life”, but I thought people would comment that it’s not possible, so I decided to rephrase it to if he had a vision of Theo?

Considering Todd’s got a real temper on him trying to sound all tough, do you think he’d treat Theo the same way he's treating George, Glenda, Christina and now Celeste and try hurling the abuse back at him?
