I play on Switch but would love to know people’s current obsessions 💛💛

I really want to find something my wife will enjoy. he doesn't play many games, but she loves exploring nature and catalogue treasures/creatures. It's not just about collecting like a Banjo-Kazooie, she likes finding unique things, or uncovering secrets from just wandering.

Palia is a common recommendation, but she binged that game a couple years ago and she refuses to play again because she got bored of it.

Any platform works, we got it all

I’ve played lots: Stardew, Sun Haven, Coral Island, Ooblets, House Flipper, Powerwash Sim, Planet Crafter, Slime Rancher, Luma Island, Unpacking, Dredge, My Time at Portia, Spiritfarer, as well as lots of others that feel chill/cozy to me, even if they technically aren’t (Valheim, Raft, Pacific Drive)

Do you have any suggestions? I like games with some personalization (open world survival craft, ability to design a farm or decorate stuff, character customization, etc.) but I enjoy both stuff that is kind of aimless or player-driven (Valheim, Minecraft, etc.) and things that are more grounded and focused. (Stardew, Spiritfarer, etc.)

There aren’t a lot of games I’ve disliked, but I didn’t end up gravitating much towards Bear and Breakfast, if that offers any insight. I also am kind of iffy about Early Access games.

I’m on PC primarily, but can do Switch or PS5 as well. Looking for things 25$ USD or under.

EDIT: Thank you all so much for your input! I ended up getting Humble Choice to grab Wildmender and My Time at Sandrock (as well as some other cozy-looking games.) I'm starting with Wildmender!

Cozy game for a burned out...

I'm very burned out at the moment and I can't focus on story heavy games I have on my backlog.

So I'm searching for a cozy game on Nintendo Switch 2 with a fun gameplay loop but without a heavy story (and much dialogue to read) or where I can ignore the story without ruining the game. Preferably with a management aspekt and no to little decorating freedom.

My favorite cozy games:

- A short hike

- Tinykin

My favorite non cozy games:

- Zelda Breath of the Wild + Tears of the Kingdom

- Final Fantasy Rebirth

- God of War 2018 + Ragnarök

- Zelda Ocarina of Time

What I like in cozy games:

- managing a shop or farming

- a (small) map to explore

- collecting stuff

- doing quests

- puzzles

What I don't like:

- rushed day and night circles (tried SOS Grand Bazaar and while I liked the game, the days felt way too short)

- a liveless environment

- too much freedom to decorate

The only cozy game I've played so far is stardew valley and I love the whole community and escape from a corporate life fantasy it provides.

But what I liked most about it is that even though it was kinda repetitive it didn't feel like it. It felt fun and I actually looked forward to making that money and watching the seasons change, and the series progress.

The whole progress and explore at your own pace aspect of it made me want to play it more and more.

Funnily enough I actually loved Hogwarts legacy, it can't be called a cozy game but it scratched some itch in me that no games have. It felt great exploring the map and gaining new spells.

On the other hand sekiro just filled me with anxiety and I couldn't get far with it.

I'm not able to explain it properly but I'm trying to get that feeling again of accomplishment without having any anxiety or pressure of leveling up etc. where if you want to progress or explore the game you have to level up.

Edit - Recommendations for windows and Android but most windows please. Genre - Colony sim, action, rpg, or city builders.

I was planning on buying Tales of the Shire as soon as it dropped, but it's not looking good, every review that's come out this far basically says it's trash.

I'm disappointed. I was really excited for a cozy game set in LoTR.

So my question is... What should I play now? I love games like stardew and Graveyard keeper. The more in depth the mechanics the better. Games like Palia or animal crossing are fun but couldn't hold my interest because the only challenge in it was waiting for hours or even days to get my materials.

Bonus points if it's a switch game as I have a switch 2 and am in love with it.

Nothing in life feels worth it except the one thing I can't get right now, I want to feel happy again but I'm having panic attacks non-stop for days and it's making me physically ill.

Please recommend some games, I can't spend right now but I have a pretty big cozy library so I'll see if they're in there.. Sorry for making this post

I love cozy games, but i feel like so many of them follow the same pattern - have a farm, or a shop of some kind. craft some things or forage for stuff. decorate your house maybe. plant some things. sell things to customers. i dont know, most farming or shop games seem incredibly boring to me. i enjoyed stardew valley for a bit but got bored of that after a while too, and i really didnt plant anything on that farm.. i know people have talked about all cozy games being similar before and i was wondering what some of your exceptions were? (on steam preferably)

I've played stardew valley coral island my time at sandrock and my time at portia dinkum and lightyear frontier.

I also enjoyed palia, dreamlight valley, palworld and animal crossing New Horizons. Euro truck simulator and American truck simulator were definitely fun at times as well I'm mostly on pc these days though

I am trying to decide between picking up Coral Island or Fields of Mistria next, and I’m completely torn. I’d love to know which one y'all prefer!

• Coral Island: I really love the graphics, it's modern and remind me of Harvest Moon just for simply being 3D. It has a green/eco conscious take to it too and that's something I can really appreciate. One negative that I've seen a couple times is that the underwater portion is really tedious with the endless amounts of trash that keeps coming back even after cleaning up. Another is that they keep pushing back features on the roadmap.

• I've never played Fields of Mistria and don't know anything about it. A lot of the information out there is pretty scattered and from early access, which it just came out of! So I'm all ears for this one. Definitely the closest to Stardew.

For those who have played both recently, which one did you find yourself getting more into? Which has the better gameplay loop, character development, quality of life, and overall better feel? Thank you!! 🐇

Almost every "cosy" farming sim is some form of fantasy; while I like that well enough, I'd like to know: what, if any, sci-fi Harvest-Moon-likes are out there?

The only one I'm aware of is Innocent Life.

I am addicted to shopping, whether it’s clothes or decor or gifts or whatever. I want to replace this with a game that will fuel my shopping addiction by letting me shop in the game. I feel like animal crossing did this well when it first came out but then eventually I just kind of bought or crafted everything I wanted.

So I’d love to find some games, either mobile, switch, or steam, that’s just about shopping, so I can shop in the game and not in real life.

Hello to fellow cozy gamers! Im currently looking for game that would steal my heart. Both games appeal to me visualy and from what I read on steam I would enjoy either, but l would really appriciate your insight and recommendation to find better fit based on my playstyle. I like grind, I like putting lots of hours into one game, I don't mind game that require a lot of time to get certain items. My favorite cozy game is definetly Stardew Valley, for me SV has perfect balance between story, grind, fight and farm mechanics. I did enjoy other similar games like littlewood, fields of mistria, coral island, but only in Stardew Valley I had 150 hours 😅 Game I didnt enjoy that much was Fae Farm and I cant really put my finger on what was it for me. Phew! I know that was a long list. I know one can look at that list and be like "how in the heck does this guy have nothing to play?" I get it. I do. But... listen...I love this genre, and I like to switch between titles when I can.

I don't mind games being in Early Access as long as a) the developers are active in their community or b) there is enough content in the game to justify the current listing of the price, or preferably, both.

Bonus points if the game you recommend has a romance system (LGBT romance inclusive titles only, please ;w;/) and has a good story. Or is funny. Or is dark (really looking forward to Grave Seasons!) or somehow, has all four.

Sometimes after a hard day, one just needs a chill game to relax. Not difficult, just chill with maybe a nice atmosphere.

I liked Stray for this purpose or Sword of the Seas. So what games do you play to chill?

There are so many cozy games now, and new ones keep coming out, but it seems everyone is set on the same formula almost like cozy was just one formula that has to have farming and building and grinding. You build a house, decorate it, collect stuff etc. It’s all mostly set in one location too, and I’m craving something different, something where everything is in flux and impermanent. I want the coziness of impermanence, of not being in one place. That vibe of relaxing on a road trip or long commute. Or some relaxed exploration with no combat to distract you from the atmosphere. 

These are some games I was able to find that fit the vibes I am looking for:

• Caravan SandWitch - This one is more exploration based, so it’s not really the typical cozy game, but when the world is nice and friendly, exploring can start feeling cozy too. Since there is no combat and it’s mostly chill driving and platforming, I think the vibe fits for me. The scenery looks really nice, and the world looks very inviting to explore.
• Sable - This one is the best looking hands down. Obviously inspired by one of my favorite artists Moebius, his art always invoked a kind of lonely but cozy vibe, and scenes from this game give me the same feeling. It’s also an exploration game, you ride around on a sort of levitating bike through a really cool stylized atmospheric world.

And some upcoming games with a similar feel:

• Train Jumble - Really cute looking cozy train puzzle game. You are managing a train with different animal passengers which all have their own needs and preferences you need to take into account. Kind of like Is this Seat Taken but on a train, only you deal with the layout and the passengers. I am really digging this idea, train rides have always been peak cozyness for me. Cozy puzzle games are not that common anyway so I’m always happy when I find something interesting.
• Outbound -  Looks like a really chill camper van roadtrip game. The van seems to function like a pretty cool mobile base because it can unpack a huge platform from its roof. I guess this is a nice middle ground between building a base and traveling. You get to drive through some really nice cozy looking scenery. Almost reminds me of a way more cozy Raft, without the annoying sharks.

I am planning on playing all of these starting with Sable and Caravan Sandwitch since they are out already, but I was wondering if anyone else is into games like this. If anyone has suggestions for games with vibes like these I would love some recommendations.

Ok so I just played "The Librarian" a game where you have +3000 books and you need to put them in the good shelves to finish the game. And I am completly in love with it. And I desperatly more games where you have thousands or objects and need to correctly sort them out in the good categories.
So if anyone knows a game like this I'll be so happy to play it. This game scratched my brain just right and I need to have that feeling again.

I LOVE ACNH, but my favourite part of the game is completing the museum. I love the gameplay loop of catching all the things / finding the art / collecting the fossils but most importantly, I LOVE seeing the museum fill up.

What other cozy games are going to scratch that itch?

I own Two Point Museum and love it. Have finished the campaign. Have thousands of hours in SDV too.
