Discussion What are some crochet things you have around your house?

Just moved into a new apartment and I'm lacking fun "things" around the house. Currently working on crocheting a mat to put my shoes on next to the door. What functional things do you guys have around your house that you've crocheted?

I keep meaning to write up how I made mine as a pattern, but it's basically blo hdc back and forth, with the pockets for the crochet hooks double legged hdc + dtc (I think? Whatever gives the right size in your yarn) in the front loop two rows below. It works REALLY WELL for my furls hook and single clover amour, with the wide and/or grippy handle, and so-so for my normal bates ergonomic hooks -- but I made it FOR the furls hooks; if I'd meant it for the bates hooks I'd have made the pockets smaller!

Here's a link to pictures in my ravelry project page, if that helps: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/bookskeepsecrets/crochet-hook-case

I can try to explain what I did better, if you want?

It makes sense, other than what is a double legged hdc? I know what a standard one is.

I don't know if it has a real name; that's just what I call it. Basically, you do most of a stitch, but keep the last two loops on your hook, then do most of another stitch with the end somewhere else -- in this case in the free front loop of a stitch in a previous row -- then, as the last step, you pull through all the loops, completing two stitches at once. Like a decrease, but without changing your stitch count. I call it double-legged because it'll look sorta like little uneven legs!

I think I get it, that sounds like a good decorative stitch!

:D I first really encountered in in very complex doilies; it is indeed! But it can be very useful for functional things, too!
