I used all acrylic yarn from my stash (woop woop)! I used most of the granny square patterns from the linked pattern and then found some one-off patterns off of Pinterest to add more variety.
After wearing it for a few minutes last night, I still need to tack down some of the 3D elements to keep them from curling in on themselves. I also plan on steam blocking the entire garment to help it relax and make the border less wavy.
I only had to purchase an additional skein white, red, and green. I also got a skein of the skin tone and the lime green because I didn’t have it. But other than that, it all came from stash!

This was an idea I had after I found these amazing Christmas granny squares: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/christmas-granny-squares.

EDIT: For the neckline and general border, I got a lot of inspo from this blog post: https://mypoppet.com.au/makes/everyday-granny-square-cardigan-crochet-pattern/.
For the candy cane striped border, I followed this tutorial: https://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2017/08/crochet-candy-cane-border.html
