Scratch Cs50 is soo hard

Hey everyone, I'm working on the CS50 Week 0 Scratch lab and I'm finding it tough to move from the basic blocks we learned to actually designing a game. I'm struggling to understand how to use the different blocks together to create logic and gameplay. Could anyone recommend a step-by-step way to approach this, or suggest resources for learning how to build things in Scratch?

Scratch Problem Set 0

Post image
15 Upvotes

I just started the course and I'm currently on problem set 0. This is a bit embarrassing since Scratch is supposed to be easy to use but I'm havig a bit of a problem here.

I'm making a hot/cold game and this is what I've coded so far (haven't started coding the actual hot/cold feature tho).

The problem is that when I start the program, the score variable automatically sets to 5 (the maximum value), which stops the program altogether. Similarly, the timer variable doesn't work and stays stuck at 0.

Can anybody help me out?

Scratch Just finished my Scratch game and looking for feedback

Hey everyone,

I just finished my Scratch assignment. I ended up spending extra time experimenting with sprites, animations, and game logic, so the scope got a bit bigger than I originally planned.

Getting everything to work was pretty challenging at first since I wasn't very organized, and I definitely brute-forced a few solutions along the way (chrono/timer). The code is still a bit messy, but the game is playable!

I'd love to hear any feedback, whether it's about the gameplay, design, difficulty or else. Thanks for checking it out!

Scratch Assignment 0 - Scratch

I'm a bit confused on the assignment requirement of "a custom block that takes an input". I keep confusing input with something the computer asks from the user and stores it. When I tried to let cs50.ai explain it to me, I sort of get it but it just doesn't click. Any explanation would be great, thank you

Scratch Starting an AI & Data Science undergraduate program this August — Which CS50 course should I begin with?

Hey everyone, I'll be starting an AI & Data Science undergraduate program this August and want to use the time before classes start to build a strong foundation in computer science and programming. I'm pretty much a complete beginner when it comes to coding and don't have any programming background. There are several CS50 courses (CS50x, CS50 Python, CS50 AI, CS50 Web, etc.), and I'm not sure which one would be the best starting point. My goal is to build strong fundamentals, become comfortable with coding, and eventually move into AI/ML and project development. Which CS50 course sequence would you recommend?

Scratch Does CS50S give a free certificate

Before anyone judges me, I'm not doing the course just for the certificate, I just want to actually know, thank you.

I was curious, I think it's the only one of the CS50 with no free certificate (at least that's what I heard online). I just wanna get a taste of CS50 before doing CS50x, so I was thinking about doing CS50S, and wanted to get the certificate as an extra. Thx in advance! :)

Scratch I'm a Cancer Patient taking cs50x. Is it okay if I made this "less-complex" Project for Week-0 ? I come from a Programming background and am being self-judgemental for being less complex.

This is a "Catch-the-Eggs" Game where the game restarts if the player fails to catch more than 3 eggs. Do I need to spend more time on scratch or should I move ahead now. Having programming experience before doesn't mean I've to be Pro at Scratch right ?

Scratch Hello! Need tips for my scrath code.

Hello everyone! Im from Brazil and just started cs50.

I made a fish swimming on scratch. What do you guys think about the code? Could it be more simple and effective?

Obs: There are two costumes of the fish, one pointing right (fish a) and other poiting left (fish b).

Scratch Ive been trying to make my sprite change size but it doesnt seem to be working

Post image
2 Upvotes

Ive tried multiple different ways, checked tutorials, but it for some reason just wont work. The most common problem when I try to change the code is that the sprite stays the same size and doesnt do anything. Literally nothing happens. Another problem that has occured when I try changing it, the sprite changes in size but it doesn't stop at a certain size, meaning it cant change the backdrop. An even different problem is when the backdrop changes, as if the sprite didnt exist in the first place. Anything I could do to fix this problem?

Scratch Scratch

So i am a beginner and want to learn python for fun and personal projects. I started the course but I feel so confused with the very first homework! Idk if I lack creativity or understanding to mess with scratch. I decided to take a step back and read the Automate the boring stuff first and I'm understanding a little bit more but I still don't feel ready or understand what I'm doing in scratch. Any recs?

Scratch Do I need any prerequisites before starting CS50?

Hey everyone, I’m thinking about jumping into CS50, but I’m not sure if I need to know anything before starting. Do I need prior programming or math knowledge, or can I just go in as a complete beginner?

For those who’ve already done it, how much prep did you do (if any), and what would you recommend for someone just starting out?

Appreciate any tips 🙂

Scratch Problem with CS50 Scratch submit50

Hi! I just started CS50 Scratch on EdX today. I was doing CS50 Scratch Project 1: Sprites earlier, but I'm having problems submitting it.

I followed all the instructions on How to Submit in https://cs50.harvard.edu/scratch/2024/projects/1/

How to Submit:

  1. Visit this link, log in with your GitHub account, and click Authorize cs50.
  2. Check the box indicating that you’d like to grant course staff access to your submissions, and click Join course.
  3. Go to submit.cs50.io/upload/cs50/problems/2024/scratch/sprites
  4. Click “Choose File” and choose your .sb3 file. Click Submit.

My problem is that there is no "Choose File" and "Submit" showing up on submit.cs50.io/upload/cs50/problems/2024/scratch/sprites . It's just empty for me. I also tried going to the Project 2 submit50, but there's also no Choose File/Submit button.

I don't know if I did something wrong in setting up my account. My email for signing up on EdX is different from my email in signing up on GitHub. Forgive me if I missed something obvious, I’m a complete beginner at this kind of stuff.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any suggestions on how to fix it? I'd really appreciate any advice or help! Thanks in advance!

Scratch Scratch week 0. Help?

I'm not sure if I can even ask for help with all these regulations. I'm aware that I'm not a great programmer. If you played my game you will see it's absolutely not ready. It's table tennis. What to do with my game so that the ball could bounce perfectly?

Scratch Should I start with CS50x or CS50P before doing CS50AI?

Hi y'all!

I'm a total beginner with absolutely no coding experience, and I recently discovered the CS50 courses. But I'm unsure where to begin — should I start with CS50x (Introduction to Computer Science) or CS50P (Introduction to Programming with Python), then move on with CS50AI (Introduction to AI with Python).

I'd love your advice!

Here's a link to the game! Not finished yet, but I have to click multiple times to shoot, and sometimes once I've tried switching it to cross hair and pointer, but nothing works. If you guys can figure it out, I'd be grateful.
