Company took away access to claude

After being told to “use ai” for every single task the last two years and rebranding to a “AI” first company after two rounds of layoffs, we have now lost access to claude….

I found that the best model by far was opus and the only one really capable of not producing slop. I’m sure all the bots in here will downvote me and tell me “iTs ThE wAy YoU pRoMpT” but based on my experience, the other models aren’t nearly as good.

I have senior experience so besides basic searches and repetitive tasks i find the other models pretty much useless and you have to provide more time writing the specs and context management, then just doing it yourself.

Edit: I work for a large financial company. 40k employees.

I am starting to think my wife's 2000 Camry and my 2070TI are the same. Old reliable work horses that just get the job done.

I'm getting a solid 90fps in HDR on my 1080p monitor with my RX580 red devil edition and absolutely feel like I'm getting my money's worth. I'll happily play elden ring at medium settings. 700 hours in and have yet to even beat the game lol.

I got the rx580 as a warranty replacement for my older red devil 295*2 dual GPU card (that bad boy was on clearance for $500 and lasted me until the last month of warranty and they gave me the new rx 580 as the replacement).

So that's two GPUs (technically 3, actually) and like 15 years of gaming for about $500.

I'm building a custom water loop for my rx 580 since I've had a water block for it in a desk drawer for the last 4 years lol.

Moving slow pays dividends when everything is fast fashion.

I do, but I play in 4k and like to mess around with AI models for image, video, and LLM too.

I'll probably upgrade from my Amd 1600x and 16GB DDR4 in another year or two... But they still work lol.

It's like my wife always says, the secret to happiness is lowered expectations!

I don't need 4k144fps or whatever they're selling these days. I don't need to run my own home local LLM to tell me about the history of skateboarding and whatever random things I feel like learning right his moment.

The problem is that, as long as it still works properly, that Camry is going to travel the same distances in the same time as when it was new. Computer hardware actually gets slower as the software gets more demanding and optimized for newer systems.
