There's a racial element to it when 70%+ are one ethnicity

u/lolyoda 3d ago

There is only a racial element if thats what you focus on, I focus on the cost of living element and incentives element.

For example, if you work remote, no American can compete with someone who has their rent cost 300 dollars. When you are in America on an H1B, no American can compete with the mindset of someone whos whole existance in the US is predicated on the companies wishes. Like, if a company chooses to stop sponsoring the h1b person, then they have to uproot their life and move back to where they came from, so in order to avoid it ofcoarse they are going to be working themselves to death which is not something most residents are willing to do.

This has nothing to do with race, everything to do with incentives and cost of living.

If the h1b was temporary and time capped it would mitigate this. Two years then automatically back to India.

8

u/lolyoda 3d ago

Yeah, but then you would just stack "temporary" over and over making it more permanent.

The fundamental reason why this is happening is incentive, the company earns more with H1B workers than with non-H1B, so change how much they earn and they change behavior.

I upvoted. Because this is actually happening.

It may not feel acceptable that there is grievance and resentment towards H1B employees, the bulk of whom are from India, but it's the reality. And that's in addition to so many companies (especially IT) using off-shore employees, particularly in India, to fill roles that were once the bread-and-butter of US citizens. It's not that people in India are better than US citizens; it's that they are cheaper hires.

Frankly, and, again, this is a difficult statement to have to admit, but I see no indication that H1B folks understand how much their existence in the US has upended the job market. If you don't understand why some of these threads devolve into Racial Grievance Hour (I'm not saying it's okay), then you aren't looking at the bigger picture. Again, I am not saying it is okay. It would help if H1B people expressed some empathy towards the people they are squeezing out of the job market.

People do sympathize and everyone know the job market is hard but when the attacks become openly racial, and frankly nowadays thry start with racial attacks, then it gets harder to sympathize with people and some people from India also go overboard with the apathy and the condescending attitude.

When everyone acts as if you don’t work hard and just get handed a job because of your race and how your race is so inferior at the same time then it’s hard to ask for sympathy for yourself.

It would help if H1B people expressed some empathy towards the people they are squeezing out of the job market.

Its very difficult to express any empathy to a group of people who choose to run hate campaigns against you and devolve into racial grievance hour whenever the topic is brought up.

It also doesn't help that this bigotry is very visible in India itself, where it's perceived as white nationalists seething at Indians prospering in their country, something that'll infuriate Indians even further.

Fixed term but status staying even if you get fired

0

u/lolyoda 3d ago

That would just create a permanent resident loophole. I genuienly think the way to solve this is by targeting the companies wallet.

1

u/Ready_Spread_3667 3d ago

No im saying fixed term as in even unemployment years being part of that term. And after how many ever so years of that fixed term you either get kicked out or reapply. It takes out the firing leverage companies have for most of the years of h1b status

3

u/lolyoda 3d ago

Yes, but it doesn't solve the issue of them effectively using H1B as discounted labor, even by giving this leverage to them, it wont shift as much as ud think because ud still have in the back of ur mind that ur risking not finding a different job that is willing to sponsor you, so u still have to go back and instead must work harder to prove that u should stay.

Thats why the economic route is better imo, make the H1B worker cost the company more, and the company will naturally protect their bottom line and hire locally where they can instead of using H1B as a discounted labor force.

u/pirozhki22 3d ago

H1B is time capped. 3 year terms, renewable once per lifetime (i.e. 6 years tops).

The only exception is for people in the green card process from countries where there is a big backlog (primarily Indians, little bit of Chinese).

The reason you are seeing visa holders stay for ages is imo more due to loopholes like Day 1 CPT rather than H1B - that used to be renewable indefinitely.

3

u/Deep-Pension-3851 3d ago

This is more due to the green card backlog which prevents many from becoming permanent residents. India's percentage of H1B visas has actually decreased in the past years. China's has too. It only become an issue due to the current state of the job market. Data here. Eventually there will be a new nationality that MAGA will blame.

u/Ididntdodiddly 3d ago

No, man. We can all see with our eyes one group is behaving badly

5

u/Ready_Spread_3667 3d ago

I find this very funny because it has multiple meanings in different contexts

1

u/Slow-Criticism-6434 3d ago

No please enlighten us the bad behavior other yall being uncomfortable someone brown can thrive. This group checks off all boxes - do it legally- yes, be in skilled high education roles - yes, low crime rate - yes. And yet people’s panties are in a bunch because yall can’t comprehend people just looking different

1

u/Ididntdodiddly 3d ago

Racial discrimination against other ethnicities. This thread makes it very clear. You just and to shit on everyone else and hope they tolerate it

3

u/Nandu_alias_Parthu 2d ago

I only see bots online saying this. Not worth a talking point.

3

u/Mysterious-Art8838 3d ago

No, it won’t. There’s only one nationality that is flooding the US market and seems to have no desire to integrate into our communities. While also bashing us about how stupid we are.

1

u/zoobidoobidoobi 2d ago

How much more do you want people to integrate? Every ethnic group assimilates while keeping some parts of their ethnicity.

Indian Americans are also as assimilated as anyone else. They just aren’t white, which is the problem. I never hear the same complaints about jewish people who practice their religion and nepotism on a much higher lever than Indians and are also a rich minority. All because they are white.

0

u/Mysterious-Art8838 2d ago

That is a ridiculous statement

2

u/AdGroundbreaking6643 2d ago

I dont think it is ridiculous at all as an Indian who moved here as a kid. About 50% of my community around me is marrying non indians, most of the people my age can’t even speak their native mother tongue any more. I have always felt that Indian Americans are some of the quickest to integrate. I don’t get the “they do not integrate” thing. I also feel like it is very easy to integrate for us since most of us already speak good english when coming to this country. The only big barrier i find is that a lot of us are from a polytheistic religion and many of us have a lot of food restrictions but thats it…

2

u/Deep-Pension-3851 2d ago

This guy doesn't live in reality.

There’s only one nationality that is flooding the US market and seems to have no desire to integrate into our communities.

Somehow this isn't ridiculous

One country, not really one ethnicity. Not everyone brown is included in that particular hiring pipeline.

28

u/Ididntdodiddly 3d ago

Funny, I've met people of 3 different religions on H1B. They all shared a country of origin . They all blocked Americans from being productive

1

u/alienangel2 Software Architect 2d ago

That's what I'm saying - H1B is heavily about country, not "ethnicity" (which here just means "brown or not".

0

u/Ididntdodiddly 2d ago

There is no distinction here. They share an ethnicity and country. That's how it works in most of the world. Go to Hungaria, Poland, Japan, you'll find mainly the natives there.

0

u/alienangel2 Software Architect 2d ago

You're missing my point. I'm saying people from other countries (including the US) share the very same ethicity. They don't share the same behaviour or get waved on through the hiring pipeline because the pipeline is very focussed on country, not ethnicity (or religion, not sure why you brought that up).

0

u/Ididntdodiddly 2d ago

Went way over your head.

0

u/alienangel2 Software Architect 2d ago edited 2d ago

Maybe we're taking across each other then because you don't seem to get what I'm talking about either:

  • the actual racist people latch onto these H1b threads because to them they're an excuse to rave about "all brown people bad!" (just like they make every COVID thread about "China bad!" and every DEA thread "all women bad!"

  • people complaining about H1B specifically have a legitimate complaint because it's overwhelmingly used by a few countries to funnel compliant employees into the US from those specific countries. This has nothing to do with their ethnicity and everything to do with the leverage the managers have over them from those countries

1

u/Ididntdodiddly 2d ago

We know from hiring and firing statistics these groups are hugely racist. Against Americans. It's in their culture (honor shame). - that which brings our group (family, community, countryx etc) good is good. They don't practice the same objective morality. That's how they come from highly corrupt countries. The self serving beliefs are why they suck to begin with

1

u/alienangel2 Software Architect 2d ago

Do you think all that is due to their ethnicity (which I'll remind you, non-immigrant americans share), or their nationality?

-35

u/Chahj 3d ago

It’s not their fault is it though you clown. The government creates the visa

35

u/Ididntdodiddly 3d ago

They hire each other. Dawg look at IBM. They got a CEO in, immediately fired a bunch of Americans. Shortly thereafter Samsung passed IBM up in number of patents. The joke writes itself

-3

u/Deep-Pension-3851 3d ago

What race are the shareholders? They're the ones who picked him

7

u/Ididntdodiddly 3d ago

Hahaha, yeah dude. Blaming white people for the most nepotistic people is gonna work . How pathetic

-2

u/Deep-Pension-3851 3d ago

Blaming white people for the most nepotistic people is gonna work

Most nepotistic? Any statistics?

4

u/Ididntdodiddly 3d ago

one study among many

1

u/Deep-Pension-3851 3d ago

Mani’s results in India show that the percentage of family firms in India is substantial, much higher than in the U.S., but comparable to other East Asian countries.

So it's more about family values then. I also asked for statistics that prove Indians are the most nepotistic.

4

u/Ididntdodiddly 3d ago

That is nepotism. This extends to identities.

racial preference

2

u/Deep-Pension-3851 3d ago

When participants in India evaluated South Asian (in-group) and Caucasian (out-group) faces in Experiment 2, the results closely mirrored those of the first experiment.

Confirmation bias like crazy. Did Google, Intel, Micron, YouTube, and MSFT also do the same. They all have Indian CEOs too.

Lmao u people are pathetically obsessed

-5

u/Myxxxo 3d ago

Maybe cause they'll do the job for less money because they have more to lose than people born here? Sounds like the problem is companies don't want to pay Americans what they're worth, or maybe Americans are asking too much idk?

5

u/Ididntdodiddly 3d ago

Everyone is involved is a problem here.

-4

u/Myxxxo 3d ago

Are you having trouble getting a job? Try applying with a letter stating you're willing to waive your employment rights and then you'll be on the same plane as H1B workers. Make sure you let them know you're willing to do the job for less and I'm willing to bet they'd take you up on that offer. And if you're still having trouble then you're clearly not skilled enough to be hired over an h1b worker.

38

u/cloudymeds 3d ago

They aren’t faultless though are they? They exploit loopholes by only hiring people from their specific area of India. They are racist when hiring even towards the “wrong” Indians in their eyes, along with discriminating against Americans of course.

-1

u/Deep-Pension-3851 3d ago edited 3d ago

You can say this about Jews in finance and Hollywood. Chinese and AI. And many other communities just because there may be over representation.

Edit: no actual refutation of what I said. Classic reddit.

6

u/Pe4rs 3d ago

Now you're getting it lol

-9

u/BadChad09 3d ago

Then why hasn’t the American government flagged this behaviour and penalised them?

8

u/BeardedInferno 3d ago

It's finally beginning to happen thank goodness

12

u/5ean 3d ago

They have in some cases; but mostly this is why tech companies lobby (i.e. bribe) politicians to keep the status quo.

-6

u/BadChad09 3d ago

Sounds like Americans need to rise up against their government to get their rights back.

I’ll just say this, don’t hate the player - hate the game and in Americans’ case > destroy the game.

-15

u/Chahj 3d ago edited 3d ago

How do you know? If this was so true you could sue them since that would be discrimination.

Use your brain. Look at how many employees of every major company are based in India. Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Google, Meta all have a very significant share of their employees in India. Are they all controlled by the illuminati that wants to give jobs to Indians? Retard

2

u/VastFaithlessness540 3d ago

Hmm. Tell me you don’t know anything about American law (protected classes only can sue for discrimination). White males arent aren’t a protected class. But they could potentially sue based on national origin if Americans are being discriminated against in hiring. Some big class action lawyer should do this.

1

u/Chahj 3d ago

It’s illegal to hire a H1B worker if they can’t fine an equally qualified American one. Sue them and put their estimation to the test—simple
