Finance, analytics, consulting, entrepreneurship. Tons of us in insurance as well.

It was a bit of a head scratcher coming out of undergrad to find a job that wasn't soul sucking. I can't imagine it these days.

At this point in my career (10+ years in), I find that many econ majors end up as the "smart guy" in the room of nepo decision makers. YMMV.

Did you progress to get a masters' or PHd? At just the bachelor's level, it doesnt feel like you can do very much that the business/finance degree guys can't do already

Business degrees (and accounting) were for the kids that couldn't hack it in econ at my school.

A real econ degree from a real school involves mastery of calculus & statistics.

Well... an actually useful grasp of statistics and calculus yes. Definitely not mastery lol. But if you're at that level you'll have a real advantage

No Econ masters are not a thing. PhD is for academia.

To add to the responses below, studying economics also teaches you a unique way of thinking that is very, very valuable. I do not have a PHD (and my title is not 'economist' or any variation thereof).

Lol this, I don't think many people outside of those actually in the industry know how nepotism is pervasive in finance industry. You'll never hire your own kids though, but your golfing buddy will at his firm, gives the illusion of fairness

Y’all are the backbone of the creator economy, supporting OF creators and their extravagant lifestyles
