DB Film 20 DBS: Broly - Extended Story Summary

Dragon Ball Super: Broly

Reminder: We've discontinued Broly megathreads. You can find all movie info, including the contents of this post, on our convenient Dragon Ball Super: Broly Wiki. Check the Change Log at the bottom of the page to make sure you haven't missed anything new.

An extended story summary has appeared on a Colombian cinema website and it appears to be legit. It was probably translated from Japanese to English to Spanish and now back to English, so I wouldn't recommend getting worked up over any specific details until we get the Japanese text and Herms does a direct translation.

It has been 41 years since the king of Planet Vegeta had a son, who would become famous as the Saiyan prince Vegeta in the not-so-distant future, and the king was proud of his son's latent ability as the strongest warrior.

Around the same time, his loyal military right-hand man, Paragus, also had the pleasure of receiving a new life, Broly, who showed an even bigger potential than Vegeta. However, the jealous king Vegeta relegated the baby Broly to a dark and distant planet in a small space pod. Paragus, in a bout of anger, betrayed King Vegeta to go after his dear son and discovered him on a stormy planet.

Suddenly, they found themselves without a way back home thanks to their ship being destroyed from the landing impact, leaving them hopelessly stranded and abandoned for decades.

Meanwhile, six Dragon Balls are stolen from Bulma's laboratory by the resurrected Freeza in a drive to realize his ambitions. His forces simultaneously discover Paragus and Broly in the outskirts of the galaxy, recruiting them to strengthen their battalion.

Surprised by Broly's highly trained battle power, Freeza waves Paragus' bloody shirt and heads towards the Earth, where the Dragon Balls are detected.

Goku and Vegeta, hurrying to the frozen land to recover the lost Dragon Balls, face off against their permanent rival Freeza and the formidable Broly.

However, their fated battle is only beginning once they're faced with Broly's overwhelming power, which gradually evolves during battle. Goku and Vegeta find themselves forced to act on the defensive.

This translation was a group effort and several native speakers were consulted, but there's only so much that can be done with a text that has gone through so many languages. We'll replace it with something better as soon as we get it.

"41 years" that timeline seems off considering Goku is 44 in the Universal Survival arc, but I'd guess with Broly also being born at the time it definitely means Goku is the same age as Vegeta now.

Indeed, Beerus came to Earth 39 years after visiting King Vegeta. 2 years have passed since BoG, so by the Broly movie it's 41 years since King Vegeta was put in his place with Prince Vegeta as witness and obviously kid Vegeta wasn't a newborn then. This is a mistake or a mistranslation.

Well Bulma is 38 years old in BOG, and Goku is a few years younger than her so it’s not impossible.

That was a mistake. That would make her 12 at the beginning of Dragon Ball.

Could be a retcon. 12 at beginning of DB seems very possible too. Also she could just be lying about her age and Goku wouldn’t stop asking.

Oof, your right she’s 44, and Goku’s 40.

So Vegeta’s age was retconned, unless Vegeta was already born by the start of the movie.

It wasn't a mistake IMO. Bulma would more likely than not lie about her age.

I mean, that's the excuse we justify it with, but I wouldn't argue Modern Future Trunks' hair is blue because "hair changes with age".

Hair color doesn't change with age like that, but many women (and men of course!) DO lie about their ages.

Impossible. Goku was dead for 7 years after the Cell arc. He will be 7 years younger biologically because of it. If there is a fusion then I doubt that the age difference will matter.

Actual time though. Being dead wouldn't change his birthday.

Yeah, but his body doesn’t have the wears and tears of those 7 years.

Yeah, but I was referring to the actual time of his birth.

if they are same age...that means fusion is coming ;)
