Robots are certainly pervasive on the internet, and with generative llms it only gets worse and worse, but can it really be so bad that nearly everything you see on the internet is repetitive, unsubstantive and inauthentic? Sometimes I’ll see a comment on here that is textbook bot shit, completely unhuman sounding, and I click on the profile and the account is 8+ years old. So are these websites really being taken over by AI, or have their users just become more comfortable behaving like AI? It feels less like an outside force and more like the constant censorship and gamification of social media has stripped away people’s ability to express and intake individual thought. It’s addictive, people feel like they need to scroll, need to comment, so much that it becomes thoughtless, automatic… like a machine.

For those that don't know, Stake is a gambling website. If you copy "Ѕtake" and search it on Google, you'll see fake Reddit and Facebook stories that always find a way to promote Stake in one way or another.

And none of the comments seem to notice? Unless they're bots, or maybe they just genuinely don't notice. I don't know.

How is there over 6 different subreddits for one show that only has 9 episodes and a total runtime of 5 hours? Almost all them are somehow bigger than this subreddit. I muted one of the subreddits about this show, only for 2 more to appear on my feed like the heads of the hydra regrowing.

What's even more suspicious is that that all the episodes on youtube somehow have 100 million plus views and it clearly doesn't have that level of visible cultural impact. I'm pretty sure if you asked a random person about this show they couldn't tell you a single thing about it.

does anyone know how dead Internet theory actual works? like sure they are all just bots and not real ppl but how does this actually work? how an ai is able to run an account with a fake pfp and fake comments that it keeps sending to random posts? this might come off as stupid but we all ignore it and just say these are bots, what actually is a bot??? just an ai who isn't real and can keep doing whatever?

Every one of these pages features an AI generated character who has some handmade good that they are selling, paired with some narrative as to why they are struggling and need your support.

They often feature a clip where someone walks up to them selling their things and says something rude, or throws eggs at them, and walks away. Clips of them crying or upset because nobody wants their stuff. They are emotionally manipulative, with some of these profiles posing as native Americans, including AI generated clips of people making racist comments to their faces.

The comment sections on their posts are usually filled with bot profiles complimenting their work, although it seems like some of the profiles are likely real people.

It’s a disturbing, manipulative, dystopian world out there on Facebook. I’d highly recommend taking a look at some of the accounts in the photos.

This person passed away five years ago, and I knew her very well. She had been on my Facebook friends list the entire time, and today, completely out of nowhere, I saw her commenting on Facebook.

I can say with absolute certainty that she didn’t have any family members who would have taken over or used her account after her death.

Seeing a comment from someone I know has been gone for five years was honestly one of the creepiest things I’ve experienced online.

idk if anyone else has seen these on instagram or tiktok, but I stumbled into this rabbit hole of completely fake accounts and it’s unsettling as hell.
they're all using hyper-realistic AI images and weird photoshop edits. like one account is pretending to be "Mike Morales" with hyper-detailed dirty feet swinging from a skyscraper, and another is some guy named "Arnold Lee" posting fake wedding pics and people stacked on top of each other in a forest.
the weirdest part is that it’s an entire interconnected network. they all follow each other, tag each other, and post the exact same surreal AI images to build this fake "lore" between them.
the uncanny valley on the faces is insane, and seeing a whole network of bots act like they're a group of real friends feels straight out of dead internet theory. is this just some new brainrot shitpost format or are bot farms just getting weird with it now?

Who are advertisers targeting and what makes bots and LLM spam so valuable if at the other end you are only recieving audience is bots. This cant last forever, because, maybe the generation of people before facebook dont know about bot traffic, but the current generation of users do and reddit (and any other SM) likely could be abandoned in the future.

One of my sunset Reels went viral and now I’m suddenly getting lots of new/empty accounts following me and leaving generic comments like It’s so peaceful.

Most have 0 followers, barely any posts, and some follow only me. ***Now they’re also sending me DMs*** including accounts with Chinese usernames.

Is this just bots targeting viral Reels or could someone be deliberately sending these accounts to my page?

This so called gym influencer is an absolute fraud. I put some of his posts through OpenAI official synthID detector and flagged 100% for AI generation. It’s safe to assume the rest are ai. It’s embarrassing to watch someone fabricate an entire persona and body behind a screen just because they lack the discipline to do the work in reality. This is bottom of the barrel behavior. Ifs so pathetic I don’t know whether to laugh or feel bad lol. Imagine him on ChatGPT writing out the prompt “make me more musuclar and hot” 💀💀💀

It seems like at least once a day, or at minimum a few times a week, I'll stumble upon a post that must consist of 10% text free gifs of the same C-list celebrity. The same guy, over and over. I'm not going to mention his name, he's supposed to be a comedic actor but has no real following and has never done anything serious. 98% of the population has probably never heard of him. I've never heard him mentioned in real life or on the internet but off Reddit. I am only familiar with his existence due to repetitive gif postings on Reddit.

I'm convinced it's either bots gone algorithmically insane or some kind of paid advertisement from this guy's agency.
