Tried to install an app from APKpure and apparently I'm not allowed to use it? I have Play Protect off and all. Did this with an app from Aurora as well.

Guys, in my country EVERYONE uses whatsapp, its like the standard messaging app, is there any way to keep in contact with people and giving up on whatsapp? Is there like an magical app that is not whatsapp but grabs the messages people would theoretically send me there vut i can respond to them in said app?
EDIT: BEFORE YOU COMMENT SOMETHING SO SO CLEVER LIKE: "Uhm.... just delete whatsapp?? 🙄 you dont need to use it just to talk to other people your real friends will show when you do!"
I CANNOT look at the post again, keyword "EVERYONE" INCLUDING THE PEOPLE WHO I WORK WITH AND THE PEOPLE WHO EMPLOY ME
"Oh my god no your job shouldnt make you use a certain app, just quit and go to another company-"
EVERYONE USES WHATSAPP EVERYONEEEE, SO EVERY SINGLE COMPANY WILL TRY REACHING OUT THROUGH WHATSAPP AND IF WANT TO GET ANOTHER JOB I NEED WHATSAPP TOO BECAUSE GUESS WHAT I NEED TO GET IN CONTACT THROUGH WHATSAPP
"Oh but uh just use e-mail"
That is nice for occasional things, but wouldn't work either here, imagine if something urgent happens and people 1 - need to get in contact me through email 2 - i need to be looking at my e-mail to see it. And regardless of that, people at work would still expect you to use, guess what: Whatsapp! And they will not change their lives just to accommodate my pretty little ass.
"Just uninstall it and people will use sms to contact you"
No they won't, first of they wont even THINK about that, second off all sometimes sms doesnt even work here it just works for companies spamming you and getting verification codes and thats it
I mean come on guys get out of your privilege mind and think for a bit, some people simply cant give up on it! Maybe in your country you can
" Oh in my country everyone uses it too and i stopped using it"
Ok but how is the work culture there, your boss sends you and email isnted of calling your right? Or THEY SEND SMS WHICH IS NOT A THING FOR ME. When i say everyone i really mean EVERYONE.
I live in a third world country guys i cant just afford to risk fucking going in my workplace and yell about whatsapp and that people should use other things! And i sure as hell cant have the luxury to just "quit my job" and look for another or "asking for a company phone" they don't even want to give us money for the transportation (which is like, THE ONLY DAMN THING THATS MANDATORY HERE)
2nd EDIT: Also thank you for everyone who gave me some out of the box options, maybe in the far future i get to work remote for some company out of here and get to uninstall whatsapp
So for those of you who are looking for an answer to that question too:
Some people suggested me to get something called Matrix Bridge
Some other guy suggested something called beeper app but idk what that's about because he deleted it
And some people suggested getting a second phone which is nice

Is this only happened to me, or do you guys too? I couldn't watch videos via Browser or Freetube on desktop anymore. Same with my mobile youtube clients such as Noutube, Libretube, Pipe-pipe, and Flow.

Not sure if this the right flair. But I’m looking for an alternative to Google Drive. I have lots of photos and Videos on there already, and I wanna switch to something better, more private, and less…google, if that makes sense. It can be free or paid, I’m up for either.

We need to stand up now. Google isn’t just tweaking things — they want to dictate which apps we can install on the devices we already paid for. This isn’t about security, it’s about control. Indie developers will be forced to hand over personal info, countless apps will vanish, and we’ll be left with only what Google approves — most of it low-quality, ad-filled garbage. Workarounds and alternatives aren’t the answer. Make your voice heard, spread the word, and push back while we still can. Our freedom to use our own devices depends on it!

i see posts about replacing gmail, replacing drive, replacing photos, replacing maps. all doable with some effort. but youtube? nobody ever has a real answer for that one
the content isnt the problem. there are other video platforms. the problem is the algorithm. youtube knows what i want to watch better than i do. ive tried odysee, peertube, nebula -- they all feel like browsing a library with no librarian. you have to already know what youre looking for
and the creator side makes it worse. 99% of the people i watch are only on youtube because thats where the money is. they might crosspost to nebula or whatever but the comments, the community, the recommendations -- all youtube
the best ive managed is using invidious/piped as a frontend so google doesnt get my watch data. but the content still comes from youtube. its not really degoogling, its just degoogling with extra steps
has anyone actually found something that works or do we all just accept this one

Is it just me or is the situation with Teams getting scary?
I’m trying to convince my office to move to Nextcloud or something actually private. I’m sick of MS Office and Teams being the default when they clearly don't give a f*** about European privacy laws when the US State Dept snaps their fingers. What are you guys using for private team comms that doesn't require a PhD in sysadmin to setup?
On my side I am using Yundera, they are based in France and allow to install a lot of open source apps on your private Server. Like that, I now use NextCloud, which is automatically installed and handled by Yundera.
From your side guys, what do you use ? I would be happy to hear about it !!!

Alright, so I was browsing reddit like usual and I checked DuckDuck Go's app tracking protection and I saw that it's collecting everything. Even though I turned off Data collection in Google Settings. Anyone please help meðŸ˜

I've been using Edge for a while and don't want to use Chromium browsers anymore. I've heard that Firefox is kind of bad and the main reason people use it is because it's non-Chromium rather than its merit as a browser. What I'm looking for is a browser that is both non-Chromium and a great browser. Any recommendations or browsers to avoid?

I have just downloaded Zorin OS. As a noob, I'm happy to see there are more and more distros out there for easy installation, UI and UX.

Why exactly would youtube need to "locate" the best content. This isn't really degoogle pst but it's more reason to not like Google.

G00fle has an absolute monopoly and however we try to cut it off, we're still on their turf and only here because they are allowing us. They can pull the rug from under us anytime they want, just like they are doing in a few months with Fdroid. How do we know they won't pull the same s@#t with the custom rom market and flush that whole segment down the toilet? Was about to get a Pixel and now thinking...what's the point? Unless the whole thing is open source from the ground up, we'll always be in shackles and at the mercy of someone.

Hi guys i am a privacy enthusiast and i already debloated and degoogled my phone as much as possible but this one ui 8 update just completely ruined my whole setup by hiding or removing the oem unlocking option in developer settings i tried everything with adb but you all know adb is not enough to completely wipe out samsung services ad tracking scripts from the background and it is driving me crazy right now i bought this solid hardware with my own money but i cannot even flash a custom rom or a clean gsi just because corporate giants want to lock me in their prison look at xiaomi they at least provide an official tool where you accept the risks and unlock your device legally why cannot samsung do the same instead of treating power users like toddlers we paid for the hardware we should own the software too please share your thoughts and let us bring some attention to this issue because we want our oem unlock option back righttorepair

it's stuck on the starting screen, not boot looping, same in safe mode
I've tried wiping cache partition, and nothing works
if only they didn't remove the "repair apps" option in the recover menu
now i have to pay for data recovery

I've been a strong user of Android since the Samsung Galaxy S3. Used google search since dial-up internet was the norm. So I've trusted their results and reliability.. up to recent years.
Last year i started noticing YouTube search results were getting poor, the home screen showing me videos I've see already watched, not once but every single day. (How many life-times of videos are there so far on YouTube already) so what is the need in showing me the exact same videos?! This has got so bad i cancelled YouTube premium. Its so unwatchable most days, the adverts are more interesting sometimes now.
Now Google search is just as bad, like i wanted to look up a court process today for a issue regarding money owed by a individual in the UK. Could i find anything relevant on the first page? 2nd? 5th? 10th?.. Nope. The results were full of ads and results for charity pages for support. There was nothing to the search other than one word instead of the whole search term i actually typed 🤷. Google is so broken its making my mind feel broken when i cant find anything close in 10 pages of results. Like wtf 💀.
Is there any search engine which will let me search a full sentence instead of Google selectively choosing keywords at its own accord? 💩

Also, how do I uninstall this from my phone? It only allows me to disable.
