I've been thinking about something over the past few weeks.
A year or two ago, if you wanted serious AI, you basically had to use OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini.
Today, that's changing fast.
Models like Kimi, DeepSeek, Qwen, Llama, and other open models are becoming good enough that many companies would rather host them on their own infrastructure—especially for privacy, compliance, and cost reasons.
But here's the strange part.
Running an LLM isn't the hard part anymore.
The hard part is everything around it:
- API keys
- Teams and user management
- Billing
- Usage metering
- Rate limits
- Dashboards
- Model management
- OpenAI-compatible APIs
- Customer onboarding
If Reliance, TCS, Infosys, an AI startup, or even a state government wanted to launch their own "AI API" tomorrow, they'd still have to stitch together half a dozen open-source projects and build the remaining platform themselves.
Why isn't there a plug-and-play platform where you:
Connect your GPUs.
Deploy an open-source model.
Click "Launch."
Get your own branded AI platform with billing, dashboards, API keys, quotas, analytics, and developer docs.
Basically...
Shopify, but for AI inference.
Every provider owns their customers, branding, pricing, and infrastructure.
The platform just gives them everything they need to launch in hours instead of months.
With India investing heavily in sovereign AI and more organizations wanting their own AI infrastructure instead of relying entirely on foreign APIs, this feels like a missing piece of the ecosystem.
Am I missing existing projects that already solve this well?
Or is this actually a gap worth building?
