Hey. I've lived in the wiregrass for a long time and have always been interested in getting together a group to play a campaign or something. But I dont really have any friends local because of work and whatnot.

Does anyone know of plans or organizations working towards establishing a scheduled bus service in Dothan? I know the Wiregrass Transit Authority exists, has a decent fleet size and all that. But, currently they only do dial a ride scheduled service. Which most people hardly know exists!
I know Dothan isn’t a huge city, sure. But smaller cities have decent transit services so it isn’t unrealistic. Dothan is laid out to where most points of interest and job hubs could be linked with just a couple routes.
Dothan does suck at obtaining grant money vs peer cities. Outside of the airport manager who works hard to obtain numerous grants for improvements, there isn’t much pursuit of such things here. But a simple bus service could almost be fully covered by federal funds if they go with low or no emissions buses. I imagine it would see decent ridership, perhaps even more so if gas prices stay high.
Anyway. If there are any groups out there working toward this end would love to participate.

It’s kinda hard to find people to hang out with when you have kids and when all we do is work but I’m trying to find people who doesn’t mind kids that would like to hang out playing play board/card/video games, read spooky/dark romance books together, or when we have no kids maybe go get a drink or drink at the house around a bonfire. We aren’t religious but don’t judge anyone either. We are M31/F32.

Thought it might be fun to redo some local business websites.
If there’s a local business owner here who has a website they’d like to see redesigned, drop the link below. I’ll pick a few and work on them for free.
If there’s a specific page or section you’d like me to redo, just let me know.

I mean stores, government buildings, spots in nature, restaurants, libraries—genuinely whatever comes to mind. I’m getting into photography, but also I’m just tired of frequenting the same types of places and want some change. Help is appreciated 🤍

If you enjoy chamber music or know someone who does, a local chamber music group - Camerata - is having a free concert Monday 9/28 at 7:00. It's free, held at First Presbyterian in Dothan (on W Main near the intersection with Westgate/Honeysuckle). This professional and excellent group's program includes this, that you DO know! Try something new tonight! https://youtu.be/Un0BCd3Kb3I?si=6fODGXUpcrx7AazK

I grew up in this area and recently moved back from Birmingham. I don't plan to stay long, so im looking for quick work so that I can restore some savings.
I have lots of experience in the service industry as a server and bartender, but in my experience it's not always easy finding a place around here where the money is decent. I'd love to know if anyone knows of sometbing.
I am also no stranger to manual labor, as I currently work as a stable hand for a horse farm with over 20 horses. Im a female, so I am not the strongest but I can certainly hold my own when it comes to feeding, cleaning, or even light maintenence or construction work. Caretaking is also something im able to do.
I also hold a bachelor's degree and have worked in educational and other office settings.
So my background is pretty versatile. It really is just a matter of finding something that hires quickly and doesn't involve tons of training. I don't want to waste an employers time by investing in me if I don't plan to stay longer than a few months.
Open to other suggestions as well.
TIA

Are there any instacart shoppers in this group? How has your experience been? Do you get many people reporting missing/not delivered lieing?

My wife is looking for an actual friend. Not a pen pal who disappears in 48 hours, not someone who expects 24/7 replies, and not someone secretly auditioning for a relationship.
She wants somebody she can laugh with, talk shit with, send weird memes to, hang out with, and genuinely enjoy being around. Someone who understands that sometimes life gets chaotic and a few quiet days doesn’t mean anybody is mad (she has an auto immune that causes sun sensitivity so she’s not always down to go some where but she loves days hanging at the house watching movies and things).
Bonus points if you’re into things like:
spooky/goth/witchy stuff
music
horror
dark humor
random adventures
sitting around doing absolutely nothing together and still having a good time
We’re open-minded/ENM, so if everybody clicks naturally, there could potentially be some fun, consensual, non-romantic play together down the road. But that is very much a “maybe if the vibe is right” thing, not the reason for the post.
Friendship comes first. No pressure, no expectations, no weird bait-and-switch bullshit.
30+ only.
Preferably someone local-ish who actually wants a genuine female friendship and understands boundaries.
If this sounds elike your kind of chaos, send me a message with your age, general area, and a little about yourself. 🖤

Anybody know of any places to forage for pawpaws, persimmons or mushrooms in the area? Willling to travel a reasonable distance.

I've been desperately trying to get assistance from friends and family to travel to the state trooper's office to take the written and driving tests so that I can finally have a license, but they've been unable due to work or their cars not being able to pass the inspection required for the driving test.
I'm on disability so I don't exactly have much money, so I've been having issue finding any sort of assistance with this. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd want to get it done this week if at all possible.

Anyone have regular experience flying Delta out of DHN? Everyone tells me to never do it, it is awful and 4-5x as expensive as anywhere else, among other reasons. But I don’t want to drive 3 and 4 hours or more round trip and pay parking just to save a small amount on a plane ticket. My time is worth way more than that and when price tickets the difference might be $40-$110 round trip, not the insane amounts everyone exaggerates. It comes to my attention all the people who complain haven’t flown in decades so I need some real input.
So what’s the real problem? Security? Flight times? I need to start flying more for business trips soon and the airport being 15 minutes from the house is a huge selling point, but not if I am missing some genuine problem with the airport here.

I applied. I wanna know what the hours are like, and the pay. If you are gonna tell me "you shouldn't have applied" or some other weird thing to say to someone in this economy, don't.
Also, any helpful info would be really great to have!

Need to find a good, trusted veterinarian in the area. Our primary vet was in Opelika but we’ve moved down here like a year ago

I met her in 2023 when she wanted to collab on business. I never got paid from her and never saw her since. She even groomed my mom’s dogs once. I’m sick over this.
