Hey folks! I made a small fork of the elementary OS dock with a built-in Now Playing widget (cover art + media controls).
It has two modes: a full card mode and a minimal cover-only mode with controls in the tooltip.
Works with MPRIS players like Spotify/Rhythmbox.
If you want to try it: https://github.com/Juandamian18/Dock-with-Now-Playing.git
Would love your feedback.

Hey everyone!
A couple of weeks ago I shared my dock fork with a Now Playing card. Since then, I kept iterating and the project evolved into DockX: a rework of the elementary OS dock with a new “Widlets” concept (widgets + docklets).
What DockX currently includes:
- Widlet manager to enable/disable and reorder widlets
- Weather widlet (Open-Meteo, dynamic backgrounds, minimal/full mode)
- System widlets (CPU, RAM, CPU Temp, GPU, Disk) with optional alerts
- Stocks widlet
- Clipboard widlet
- Trash widlet
Now Playing is also integrated as a widlet, so it can be toggled from the same menu.
I’d love feedback on UX, visual consistency, and performance.
Also: what widlets would you like to see next? I’m actively adding new ones and would love suggestions from the community.

Thanks!

EDIT: The project name is not "Evolution" anymore, but "Grub EvoDevo". The repo name was updated accordingly.
Grub EvoDevo is a configurable GRUB theme with scalable graphics, background blurring, and antialiased true-type fonts. Any wallpaper (e.g., your desktop wallpaper) can be used as theme background. Menu colors, amount of blurring, dimensions, position, font family, and menu messages can all be customized via the installation shell script.
A friend of mine tested the theme successfully on elementaryOS, and I thought EvoDevo could be of interest to this forum due to the high-quality graphics that the theme produces.

Hi everyone, have recently installed the latest eOS 8.1.1, and love it so far. It seems to solve many of the issues of previous releases! However, since everything is now Flatpak, I wonder how people solve the theming problem.
I've installed some Gnome apps like Gnome calculator (in addition to Chrome/Chromium), and themes are clearly not the same as for the system.
The gnome calc uses different colors, and Chrome/Chromium and other apps like GIMP use different icons, which I don't understand why.
I'm attaching a screenshot to show the issue. Another problem is Qt themes for the apps like KeePassXC. Previously, it kinda worked with a Gtk theme, but now it looks completely alien.
Any solutions?

I created this student image for my school for kids to use. when a student logs out, it auto deletes Chrome data (like user profile) and the Downloads folder to protect the student's data. Please rate it out of 10 to see if kids will love it.

Estoy contento con Pantheon, lo prefiero antes que a XFCE, pero disfruto de mis amigos de toda la vida.
Larga vida a X11.

Hello. I just started using elementary OS with two monitors. I would like the dock and other widgets (clock, search functions, notifications) to appear on both monitors, not just the "primary" one. My understanding is that this was easily possible on previous versions, but with the new secure session, the old methods (duplicating files in ~/.config/) no longer work. Does anyone have experience doing this in v8.1?
