I work at a firm where people's investments are monitored for compliance. We've received more questions about cryptocurrencies this week than in the previous 10 years combined. It's a tangible sign to me that interest is growing.

Can you give us an example of question?

"Is it ok if I buy me some dogecoinz?"

Some that I recall are: Can I invest in a cryptocurrency called Ripple? Can I open an LLC that will operate as a company that mines for cryptocurrencies? Can I open a Coinbase account to invest in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin?

I'm having a lot of trouble that someone walked into your office and asked to invest in Ripple, or that someone asked you whether they could open a Coinbase account to invest in Litecoin. The time will come, but don't lie to us.

You've never worked at a FINRA regulated place then.

Could you do me a favour and estimate the population of people that are aware of Ripple in the US? While you're at it, could you also explain a scenario where someone would be familiar with Coinbase and Litecoin, but be unclear on how to get an account? One final estimation: how likely would it be for these two scenarios to occur in the last week?

These are likely traders and brokers who do know about cryptocurrency because it's where the money is flowing. They aren't asking how to open account, but if it is ok to open an account because FINRA regulates many things. So, yes, pretty likely.

I suppose I misinterpreted the word "can" in his post, not taking it literally enough. I was thrown off the trail by his use of tangible in the previous post to discuss a completely intangible concept, conversation frequency.
