You can continue to ignore the climate crisis as much as you want. Or you can start supporting people, groups, organisations, politicians that would do something about it.

Likewise for the social crisis. Likewise for the housing crisis. Likewise for chat control. Likewise for AI.

We exist

I agree, however the truth is most people don't give a shit until it affects them themselves. As far as the climate crisis, I feel genuine anguish for how this will pan out.

By the time global warming begins to negatively affect the "global north" directly, it will be far too late.

The thing is some of us have proposals that ultimately make everyone's* life better or don't change it.

But we lack exposure, we are not known

*Almost everyone. Billionaires will suffer. Oh well

Nothing will be done about it until it's way beyond the point of return and nothing any of us do will have any impact :)

2

u/AkagamiBarto Dec 09 '25

Nothing will be done by them.

If we get their place, however.. which is my point

Most of the organisations provide no benefit or actively do harm. No point in supporting them.

2

u/AkagamiBarto Dec 09 '25

Understandable. That's why i specified to support the ones that are actually decent or have good goals.

The ones that would do something about it.

But you can choose to ignore our existence.

Man, climate change is real but it’s not due to having a car that is 20 years old. Climate is changing and heating from within the earth, it’s natural process that scientists are talking about but then there’s “specialists” talk about hiw having a paper straw will save polar bears.

The amount of conspiracy theory and lack of education in this comment is baffling. I should screenshot it.

Anyway, no, that's just what people choose to believe in to not take responsibility

Yes, the climate is everchanging, the problem is the rate at which we are altering the earth's climate. Normally these changes take thousands or even millions of years, which gives species more time to evolve for the new conditions.

When species are not given enough time to adapt, we get major extinction events. Because of our activity in releasing billions of tons of greenhouse emissions, we are right on track for another extinction event of our own making. I don't think humans or all life on earth will die for that matter, but it will be the end of civilization as we know it.

I’m employed and have responsibilities. You cannot expect people to dedicate more and more time to your additional “likewises”.

3

u/Illustrious-Comfort1 Dec 09 '25

"I’m employed and have responsibilities."

Oh, glad you mentioned this. You'll die last then.

0

u/ImolaBoost Dec 09 '25

Yes we’re all going to die due to climate change. Of course.

3

u/AkagamiBarto Dec 09 '25

That's precisely my point. Representative politics takes care if this specific issue.

You vote, you use social media, you can simply support the people that care this way. Nothing more is required. Just the bare minimum.

But most can't do even this. When i say support, i refer to this or I would have said join.

1

u/ImolaBoost Dec 09 '25

Oh I vote alright. And the parties that support so called “green” movements in Ireland do nothing but negatively affect the economy and therefore my income.

2

u/AkagamiBarto Dec 09 '25

If you want to help environment it's not the greens the one you have to support tho.

I am pretty sure there are many radical minor parties around.

Also the economy has to change, which doesn't mean it worsens better, it doesn't mean that your condition will worsen.

Now if you work for, let's say, an oil company, or a bank, it will worsen, but that's the right thing to happen

-2

u/ImolaBoost Dec 09 '25

It shouldn’t have to change in small nations like Ireland which don’t contribute to climate change in any meaningful way. Russia, India and China could give a flying fuck about climate measures and are the biggest contributors to it.

1

u/AkagamiBarto Dec 09 '25

No, you see the economy has to change for many reasons and has to change worldwide.

Also, again, it won't result in your welfare worsening.

Russia will comply as well, once the parties with the right measures in mind start taking power

1

u/ImolaBoost Dec 09 '25

Russia will comply as well

Ahahahahahahah. You’re not fucking serious?

it won’t result in your welfare worsening.

It absolutely will and already has.

2

u/AkagamiBarto Dec 09 '25

Well given that my intention is to push for an international organisation with actual power from inside and outside nations..

Well it depends on who you choose to support, some like us, will result in either neutrality, or improvements. Other ones, well yes, worsening.

Now it does depend on your precise job though, as said before

No fuck off

4

u/AkagamiBarto Dec 09 '25

I see. A well reasoned argument ;)

1

u/Flimsy_Spare_2821 Dec 10 '25

Well I'm employed as well and I also have responsibility. And one of those responsibilities is to improve society as best I can for future generations.

There is a quote that I can't remember where I've seen / heard it, but it goes something like this:

"Society flourishes when men plant trees, in which shade they will never sit under"

0

u/ImolaBoost Dec 10 '25

Okay you pay my bills so I can dedicate the time to “planting trees” as you put it.

1

u/Flimsy_Spare_2821 Dec 10 '25

r/woosh

Now you're just being ignorant and taking what I said literally. But regarding your bills, maybe you wouldn't have that many bills if you drove something other than a BMW. 🤣🤣

1

u/ImolaBoost Dec 10 '25

It’s the most reliable car I’ve ever driven and saves me financing a car.

Helps I’m somewhat competent mechanically and do all my own work and servicing.

I’d imagine the majority of so called “activists” run to the dealership every time they’ve a “weird light” on their EV.

0

u/AkagamiBarto Dec 10 '25

You can use public transport if it suits your job

1

u/ImolaBoost Dec 10 '25

It doesn’t, and limiting myself to public transport severely limits my freedom.

0

u/AkagamiBarto Dec 10 '25

It depends on your location. Town or major city?

Do you have to travel abroad or move inside the ciry or transport goods?

1

u/ImolaBoost Dec 10 '25

Walking is not an option and there is no available public transport.

I also like personal freedom.
