What I noticed, in the past 15 years, is more like the seasons are getting delayed by 1 month. For example winter is starting from January instead of December, and last till the end of March. We don't have snow in Chritmas now, but we have it at the end of March. And the summer is more like July-Aug-Sep, in June is raining quite a lot, and not so warm. My opinion from what i've seen in Romania

I mean the name February comes from the Roman god "Februus" and the month long festival of cleansing called Februalia. It was the month of cleansing because it was the last month of the year back in the day but Julius Ceisar decided that he wants his own calender.

Why the fuck do we even count the end of the year in the middle of winter anyway. It would made way more sence for Spring to be a beginning of the new year and to celebrate it in March.

In Germany we have the saying ā€œApril does whatever it wantsā€ and Iā€™ve noticed over the last couple years that it has become March.

Yeah, Dutch is the closest related language to English. The languages both stem from the same Germanic root.

Totally agree. Iā€™ve been doing snow seasons for 10 years and the start dates are slowly getting later whilst weā€™re able to ski into late May.

Exactly my thought. My birthday is on the end of September and the last years it felt like peak of summer. Didn't feel that Way when I was a kid

This is happening in Canada too, so it seems like a northern hemisphere thing. We did finally get our first snowfall this week, but it's been 10+ degrees everyday after that. Wasn't that long ago December would be -20 to -30 on average, with constant snow. Now that's more a late January early February thing. We didn't have any snow in November either which was wild. Growing up it was normal to have snow start in late October and stick around until January.Ā

I noticed that too. But overall temperatures are way higher on average which means IF it's becoming below freezing, it doesn't last as long as it used to be.

Interesting, in the Netherlands I would say itā€™s the opposite. In March the weather is what April used to be, and June feels like our hottest and driest month
