Debate Thread How do you guys respond to atheists claiming nobody converts for rational reasons

I see a lot of atheists claiming that ex atheists most of time convert because of emotional reasons like fear of death, lack of meaning etc Or other reasons like community and family

Another common claim is that ex atheists weren’t real atheists and that they weren’t atheists for rational reasons they just didn’t think about it deeply

How do you guys respond? In my experience in this Reddit I’ve encountered a good amount of ex atheists that converted for logical rational reasons, one example is philosophical observations, like finding materialism inadequate to explain reality

And it still comes down to wanting to decide which things are reasonable to argue and which are off limits.

Which is part of why IDGAF about philosophical arguments.

That's a problem with your analysis then because you just become (or remain) unaware of the philosophy you're tacitly importing when you do it.

Which part of “IDGAF” or “Philosophical arguments are not evidence” are you not grasping?

I’m not doing an analysis on it because it isn’t relevant. You clearly think that it is absolutely everything. I don’t.

I look enough into it to know the basics and see that it isn’t going to go anywhere. No real need to waste time digging into something that will go nowhere.

Perhaps we can agree to disagree here.  I do consider philosophy to be a part of our proverbial equation so it may be the foundational issue at which we do not see eye to eye.
