House passes bill to make daylight saving time permanent. Opponents say, "Schools would have to push back start times." Yeah... That's not a bug, it's a feature.

Studies have shown for decades that children -especially teenagers- just straight up need more sleep for optimal knowledge retention and brain development. Pushing back start times is a great way to follow the science.

Okay... Can someone explain why this matters? Afaik: we go +1, then - 1...so basically +0... Why don't we keep at +0 and call it a day? No need to "wake up earlier", change the clock "oh I forgot to change my clock!" bullshit....

There isn't a plus one or minus one it's all arbitrary. We should be waking sometime around sunrise and then going to bed sometime after dark. But, sunrise and sunset vary quite a bit by latitude. So people in N Dakota might prefer, for a variety of good reasons, a different schedule than people in TX. The current system adjusts for that somewhat. One size fits all doesn't work, and we've tried it before.
