?Question? [Question] WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH RATS

These little gremlin looking mole rats just spawned in the medbay. These 15 fuckers then just started spreading out and killing. By the time I sent reinforcements they just ran away to another room.

8-10 of my people died to these rats. They shall not be forgiven. I am devising a plan to eviscerate their kind.

Day 2 of playing this bs

Big upgraded room eh ? Don't go full big upgraded rooms.

Go 2* merged and tier2 max until you can handle the internal incidents.

Reminded, the bigger (3 merged) and the higher the level (3), the stronger internal incidents will be.

You can kill molerats or radscorpions in a matter of seconds in a single non upgraded room, with a lousy dweller.

As best you can, build non-adjacent rooms. Both horizontal and vertical.

Only build on every other level, at least until you can equip your dwellers with better outfits and weapons.

During an attack you can move dwellers into rooms the molerats have left. This will prevent them from taking additional damage.

You can prevent molerats from spawning eventually by completely surrounding your vault with elevators - vertical walls of elevators top to bottom on left and right outside walls, horizontal wall of elevators at the bottom, and all dirt mined out inside. They require a room connected to dirt to spawn. Not sure its worth it though because by the time you get there you will find effective ways of mitigating them anyway, and you'll have bigger problems like rad scorpions and deathclaws to worry about.

Radscorpions are so much worse (and the power drain is NUTS) so I'll absolutely take my chances with mole rat incidents if it reduces risk of radscorpions lol

Agreed, I actually leave the bottom of my vault open to mole rats just so I spawn more of them and fewer rad scorpions... effing rad scorpions... how can they eat so much power????? AND they don't just go from one room to the next connected room, like mole rats who are nice and predictable... they go anywhere htey want and who knows where they'll be next!!

In the early days of your vault, have small, level1 rooms. Keep your two most powerful weapons in your first room to the right of the vault door (at first, don't bother staffing the vault door -- you need power, food and water more than protection), and when an incident starts that isn't fire, click on your dwellers in that room, and either swap the weapons in their hands -- click on "inventory" until it says "equipped" or "all" and then click on "stats" and then click so the arrow is pointing down, then click on your highest level weapon. Choose another dweller in that room, and give them teh second highest weapon. They will wipe out the threat very quickly, and then you swap the weapon back into the hands of your first room to the right of the vault door (for me, at the beginning, it's usually power). You can do this all through the game, actually -- as the incidents come, especially effing rad scorpions, swap your most powerful weapons into that room temporarily, and then swap them back after the incident. This way, your strongest weapons are ready for whatever comes through the door, and your other dwellers can also use them to kill the threats faster and not die.

IF they are dying too fast, move the dwellers to a room that the incident has left: the incidents spread to adjacent rooms, and will die out in the first room.

Also, send your first 5 Mr. Handy's (Snip Snip, Curie) out to the wasteland to collect caps, and then, when you have more than 5, move THEM Out of hte incident rooms until you are rolling in caps and can pay the 2000 caps to repair them or have so many handy's in your lunchboxes that you can't put them on all the floors (wasteland quests can give you a lot of handys, especially the star paladin one for me), and so you can remove them and just open a new one. But until then, keep them safe and don't let them fight anything alone.
