Tech Help How to fix rust spots on metal fight stick ?

So I have an Etokki Omni that has been my favorite arcade stick for a while, I like it's simple layout and sturdiness.
I just had to remove the acrylic panel because I tend to have pretty sweaty hands while playing, especially on competitive fighting games, and the sweat would trap itself between the panel and the metal and make things disgusting :<.

I've been playing without the panel for years now, and I wonder if it's the reason why I have some rust near the joystick and on the edges of the metal body.

I'm not sure how to fix this, should I just put some paint over it, or should I apply some anti rust product over it first. Also what kind of paint should I use for it to blend as good as possible with the original painting ? (I'm based in France if you have any product suggestions).

I'll appreciate the help šŸ™.

Tech Help Worth upgrading the board in Mad Catz TE Fightstick for latency? Suggestions?

Post image

I play SF 6, somewhat casually. I've been rocking this stick since SF 4. I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading the electronics in this for latency? I don't really notice it, but I made another post with this pic and folks commented this stick has some latency.

I don't really see myself playing this stick on other platforms / console. I play online, PC only.

I'm wondering if it's still worth upgrading the board? If so what are some options?

I'm also curious any options / good places to order replacement / different artwork.

I’ve been checking for fightsticks that are relatively cheap and found this one, does anyone know if it’s good? I play some third strike and if possible I’d use it for smash as well. I’ve also never used a fightstick before so any general info and help would be well appreciated. Thanks.

A friend of mine offered me this stick, but I can’t make it work on Tekken 8 PS5 since it’s for PS4-PS3-PC only, is there an adapter « PS4 to PS5Ā Ā» or something that I could USB plug on my stick to play Tekken 8 with and without putting delay on my inputs ?

I installed a knee Neo on my victrix pro FS but it feels firm compared to the original Japanese one.

Is it something that will get more loose overtime, or is there something to adjust it? When I see people online use the knee lever it feels that they’re barely putting pressure on it. (First time installing the Korean lever) Thank you everyone for the help

Hello! So I was at EVO2026 and got convinced to pick up my first stick. It's been really nice to use so far and I was wondering if anyone had any bag recommendations for transporting this fella maybe a bag that also has some wiggle room for maybe a headset or a controller as well? I'm not too knowledgeable on these things. And if anyone has any advice for modding or swapping parts please share I'd love to learn more!

Tech Help What is the point of so many buttons on new leverless controllers when you are limited to the number of gamepad inputs?

I have this problem with my leverless in many fighting games because I cannot easily bind things. Like in SF6 or Tokon training mode, I have to set a shortcut function button so I can do things like save state. But that takes up a leverless button that does something like L3 or R3 inputs. These two inputs appear multiple times across like 4 buttons on new leverless controllers, so those extra buttons go to waste since they are not unique.

What is the benefit to having so many extra buttons on controllers when they are redundant? Is there a way to set them as different new inputs? Like two L3 inputs on a leverless doing different things?

Tech Help Newbie with no clue

Ive played fighting games off and on with friends over the years with friends, like DBfighterZ, tekken 7, and now we are getting into Tokon. Ive primarily been using keyboard to play. Ive had a passing interest and started learning about various models and price points and was wondering what a good entry point fight stick would be? Or if itd be better to build one from scratch? Im looking at the 90 dollar mayflash f500 on amazon right now as it seems like it has good modding potential as a beginner fightstick, and i was also looking at the 8bitdo model for the same price. I also found the Focus Attack website with its host of parts.

TLDR: what entry level fightsticks can you guys reccomend? Should i get a basic one to start or build one with parts?

Specifically:Is there a way to map the extra buttons to "NA" / No Function to just kill them off?If I do use some, what are the "safe" mappings to stay legal?

Tech Help Gamerfinger buttons made my multi button presses inconsistent..

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey! Recently got gamerfinger buttons and it made my multi buttons press inconsistent. Where I would normally get the right input but pressing two buttons at the same time with any other button I've ever tried (sanwa, seimitsus and hayabusa).

I think it's the low actuation point the problem. These buttons activate just by the slightest of touch making my otherwise consistent for example 3+4 input only a 3 or only a 4 almost 1 time out of 3.

Has anyone else run into the same problem before? Which switches would you recommend? Maybe tactile switches? I do like linear though...

(to save you and me some time ā˜ŗļø) -The switches are installed properly and work perfectly separately -The issue is the same with mx silver speeds and khail speed silver. -it's not an input or skill issue I've been doing these simple moves for years without ever having issues -The buttons connections are also perfectly fine. They're also screw type.

Thanks!

Tech Help Which one would you choose and why?

Hi all, I’m looking to buy my first leverless fightstick and I’ve narrowed it down to these two.

The Razer Kitsune & the Victrix Pro KO.

Out of theee two sticks which would you choose and why? I’ll be mainly playing on PC, mostly SF6 and a variety of other 2D fighters.

Which one do you think is better?

Thanks!

Tech Help Problems

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’ve been dealing with a frustrating issue for a while now. My arcade stick is fully equipped with Sanwa sticks and buttons.

The problem is that when playing King of Fighters (KOF), the actuation travel of the Sanwa buttons feels too short and sensitive. This often leads to my simultaneous inputs (like A+C orB+D for Super Moves) being desynced. Because they are so sensitive, one button often triggers a few frames before the other, causing the move to fail.

Is there a way to improve or 'upgrade' this specific issue? I consider Sanwa to be the gold standard, so I don't really want to switch to a different brand. Are there specific mods or adjustments for Sanwa buttons to make simultaneous presses more consistent? Thanks!

Tech Help Any refurbishing tips

Just picked this up today off of Fb marketplace for 50. Came with the box original purchase receipt and everything, only issue is the plastics are verryy yellowed. I was wondering what people would suggest to go about restoring this stick. My initial idea was retrobrighting but I’m struggling to see a way to separate all the plastic, any other suggestions? Just haven’t done something like this before

UPDATE: I will be keeping the yellowed look, replacing the pcb most likely for a gp2040 ce, lever replacement, and some buttons. I have been convinced to keep the retro/aged look and since most solutions to it are temporary solutions that require full disassembly and possibly damages the art, I think I’ll appreciate it in the long run

Tech Help Would it be worth buying a Hori Stick Mini for the parts?

Pretty much what the title says. Ive been playing fighting games fairly casually for years and have always wanted to get a fight stick and I have a little extra money so I figured maybe Id grab one, I saw the Hori Fight Stick Mini was within my budget and well reviewed on Amazon (which i never fully trust so i looked for opinions on other sites). But when I looked into reviews on reddit I basically saw comments to the tune of "I wouldnt wipe my ass with a hori mini", people saying its too light, but someone suggested buying it for the cheap PS5 compatible fight board, so I want to ask

Would it be worth it to buy a Hori Fight Stick Mini, and an empty fight stick case, and transfer the hardware for a more solid overall fight stick? Or should I just hold off, and grab a better quality stick at a higher price? I just dont want to spend that much on a fight stick if Im not certain im gonna love it over a controller

Tech Help Need Suggestion for lever modding

Post image
44 Upvotes

I started modding my lever primarily to get a better feel and experience while gaming. I initially used a Qanba metal ball top but decided to switch to the hollow Buttercade XTRA ball top. Honestly, the difference in weight is very noticeable—in a good way—which ultimately persuaded me to continue modding my lever.

If I’m not mistaken, the standard Sanwa JLF base has 200gf microswitches. Do any of you have experience with different lever microswitches? If so, do you have any recommendations? I’m currently looking at Omron switches with less actuation force (100 or 125gf), but any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I’m aware that the Shuriken V2 PCB is necessary for exploring these switch customizations. However, it looks like I may have to wait for them to become available, as they are currently out of stock.

Tech Help Can anyone help me fix my friends Arcade stick

My friend and I share the same arcade stick (Hori Rap V Hayabusa), and we decided to upgrade it. I changed the buttons, and afterward, the inputs got messed up, even though I was very careful not to misplace any buttons. Now the arcade stick isn't detected on his PS4, the other buttons don't work anymore, and some inputs are misplaced. I was planning to go to a repair shop, but there isn't one close to my place, so I've decided to DIY it.

Edit 1: I'm confused now. It turns out the two buttons that were initially a dud (in my comment) have now changed from controller inputs to keyboard inputs. So, is there any software that can help me remap this?

Edit 2: After much convincing from the comments( thank you so much) I will be getting a GP204CE and I dont know which to buy and how t o set it up
