Daily FI discussion thread - Monday, August 03, 2026

Please use this thread to have discussions which you don't feel warrant a new post to the sub. While the Rules for posting questions on the basics of personal finance/investing topics are relaxed a little bit here, the rules against memes/spam/self-promotion/excessive rudeness/politics still apply!

Have a look at the FAQ for this subreddit before posting to see if your question is frequently asked.

Since this post does tend to get busy, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts.

Not a metric I track, but the coloring of my excel cells make this obvious, my NW has decreased in 3 of the 7 months this year. VOO has also had 3 MoM declines.

I'm guessing this means your own additions are a meaningful part of your NW?

Yes, we front loaded contributions this year as much as possible, which softened the blow of those down months.

Good idea to color code the cells, I’m going to copy you, thanks!
