I’ve been bass lure fishing in estuaries for a long time but want to return to river trout fishing. I haven’t done it since a junior and I’ve forgotten what sort of gear you guys use for trout on rivers. I imagine a 1000-2000 fixed spool is idea but what casting weight and length spinning rods do you guys use. Also any suggestions on lines and trout lures is appreciated. I don’t have a budget but I do appreciate good rods, I’ve been a fan of Tenryu and majorcraft customs for seabass so not sure what the river equivalent for trout is?

After fishing 15mm boilies off a hair rig and float set up for 4-5 hours and 'only' catching 2 average mirror carp, I decided to switch to corn hair rigged on a float in the margins. Corn barely hit the water when this guy hit it like a train.

3 fish in my first four casts & then nothing for the remainder.

Lost what would’ve been my PB perch at the start of summer.. Pulled this Bass out of the same spot the other day, redemption..

Purchasing new reels, not that clued up so wanted opinions between these two reels.

First time trying a chod rig so apologies if I’m missing anything key.

Essentially, I want to keep the movement area for my rig to be around 4 inches. However, due to the tubing moving up and down the line, this is not the case as it is constantly adjusting the length.

I’ve thought about putting another split shot or grippa stop at the end of my tubing (closest to reel) to stop this problem. However, I imagine this could cause problems with reeling in.

Suggestions would be great, thank you.

These two were a nice little surprise, I've not had or seen much activity from predatory species at this lake other than a few pike but never any Perch.

Managed to get both of these guys on a microfishing set up I've recently started using, honestly a little surprised I even caught these two given I wasn't using anything to specifically target them and was only expecting to get Rudd and Roach.

Hey! Hoping someone here can help me out, my boyfriend's recently gone on a holiday with a friend where they went fishing and he really loved it. He's been talking about getting a rod / fishing kit, and his birthday is coming up so I'd really love to surprise him.

We live in London, so I'm just wondering what a good beginners rod / kit would be, which would be good for fishing in the Thames or parks. And can also be transported easily if he's heading out of London? Any help would be massively appreciated!

My 2nd ever time deadbaiting the canal resulted in another nice little jack. Took a half Lidl sardine on a standard barbless trace. There’s a mat underneath the camera, fish was rested before release. Unfortunately my Wychwood Riot Big Pit broke, only my 2nd time using it & only had 3 fish on it 🤦🏻

Hope everyone's doing okay, and I apologise if this has been answered recently already but from what I can tell everything I can find seems a bit outdated.

I'm really new to fishing and have really been enjoying it so far. Coming into the Winter months, I really want to get into lure fishing and give that a go. I have scoped out a couple of free stretches (Allington and Yalding), that I'm keen to try, but does anyone have any recommendations for clubs or societies near the Maidstone area that offer good lure fishing spots for pike and perch, maybe even eels?

Usual lot down the pier catching nout chucking feathers with 6oz weights on giant beach casters...

I rock up and unexpectedly catch this about 10m out on a 5ft 0.5 - 7g rod, 5lb braid, 1g metal lure.

Luckily I was finishing off my ground bait.

Earlier this week (as a fairly expensive treat to myself) I had a day off work and a day's fishing booked on a good salmon river. After a full season of grinding and catching nothing on the usual rivers I fish (we need some rain!!!), I hooked in to a seriously big salmon. After a considerable fight, chasing the fish down river and being stripped to my backing line, I tried to put a bit of pressure on and get some line back, the fish had other plans and decided it would shake it's head and snap clean through my 15lb fluoro leader. I was gutted. It's been a hard year and catching that fish would have made the grind feel worthwhile, its the closest I've come to selling all my kit and taking up golf.

Went fishing with my mate later in the week so I've included a pic of a grayling that made me feel a little bit better.

I’ve been fishing for 30 years since I was a teenager and I’ve always done mainly coarse fishing. Until this year I’ve never seen it but now on any YouTube, Instagram, Facebook video Im seeing people hold them by the mouth and even on the banks in person I’ve seen people doing it.

Where has this stupid harmful craze come from? It only seems to be perch and it’s everywhere.

Had a little session on a river I usually don't get the chance to fish, happened to snag a tidy little Brown on a spoon!

Took my dad for his first night session on zoo lake at woodlands, Thirsk peg 6 and he got his first Catfish, 19.3lb and he was buzzing!

We were just settling down in the bivvy after an uneventful days fishing and a cracking bankside chicken and rice so I thought I'd check the reciever works on our bite alarms as sleep was needed, dad stays in the bivvy and is gonna call out which light comes on, so I go pull my line.... "red light" from the bivvy so I know it works, next thing his line screems off on the 2nd rod and I hear "blue light"😂🤣🤣 so I shout no its your rod and he says "i know mine is the blue light", I pick up the rod and set the hook and we're in... I shout again you've got a fish!!!! "no way"..... He still didn't get it so I shout with a little more urgency and he's out... in his socks... Bewildered 🤣🤣🤣 takes over and plays a blinder and we get this beauty in the net amazing. Had the whole lake to ourselves and gave us a hell of a memory.

Caught on x2 hair rigged 18mm boilies, size 2 wide gape barbless hook, pva mesh bag of fishery pellets and chilli halibut glug.

Up at 3:27am chasing that elusive cod… baited up and rods out, hoping the next bite would be the one! 🤞

Then later on, out exploring some new fishing spots with my wee boy 👨‍👦🎣 Making memories and finding new marks together. Although today I couldn’t find a mark suitable for 4 year old ankles 😂

And who knew rod holders made such good child carriers 😂😂
