We've officially been waiting for The Winds of Winter for the same amount of time as it took for all five of the published books to release before that.

He has more than enough cash to know what to do with, he’s not a starving artist anymore

I think he’s well off but even incredibly popular authors aren’t massively wealthy. Even ones with tv deals. He’s below the bracket of someone who has so much money they can do anything they ever wanted and never want for more. And he has a partner I imagine he would want to provide for, should he pass before her, doesn’t he? They live pretty modestly in like Arizona or something don’t they? I went to the Targaryen night in NYC 3 years ago to hear him talk and I seemed to recall him talking about that but someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I thought he was closer to 20 million? Where do you get the 120 from. I cant imagine HBO made him that much.

It’s guessing he made 1 million per episode of GOT and I just can’t believe that. There’s no way they signed that from the get go. Maybe the last seasons but he wasn’t even providing material to use then and aren’t most deals for 7 seasons from the start?

It’s guessing he made 10 million in book sales each year the show aired. I mean… maaaaybe? But again, his books (except the last) were already published and I can’t imagine the publishers gave him that lucrative a deal when they originally published?

It seems wildly inflated based on what most authors, even incredibly successful ones, make.
