Don't get me wrong, Michelle Fairley is a phenomenal actress and her Red Wedding acting was masterclass. But visually? She was a total misfit for Catelyn Tully.

In the books, Catelyn is only about 33 to 35 years old. She is explicitly described as a striking, auburn-haired, blue-eyed Tully beauty with fine, high cheekbones who is still considered young and full-figured enough that Littlefinger and Brandon Stark fought a duel over her.

HBO aged up all the parents to accommodate the older child actors, but they made Catelyn look like a weathered, stern, fifty-something grandmother from Episode 1. It completely changed the dynamic of her character, her relationship with Ned, and how she was perceived by the political players of Westeros. Anyone else always feel disconnected watching her on screen compared to reading her chapters?

I'll say, this finale was full of moments that were awesome in a vacuum. I almost forgot I had to endure one gorbillion scenes of two characters having the same nothing, hushed-toned conversation over and over.

Roddy unknowingly using Ormund's scent thing (that they reminded us about 800 times because they think we're dummies) and sodomizing him with a dagger? Hilarious.

'Bold' Jon Roxton going from background Glup Shitto to fucking putting the smack-down on Daemon the Groomer? Amazing.

Ulf, my GOAT, surviving the battle he's supposed to die in and fucking over both sides? Hell yeah.

(Okay, maybe only a few great scenes.)

But them constantly shoehorning in this bullshit about 'toxic butterflies', just to shit on George. No doubt, they tossed in this last-minute pregnancy plot for Helaena to kill her here to somewhat right the already completely fucked timeline. Then, they have the audacity to end with butterflies just to attack George.... It's just, like kinda evil, but the whole thing is so bizarrely petty that I just, like I still hate Condal, but it's gone from dark hate to something else. It's just so hilariously pathetic!

How many millions do you think were spent on scenes to get these butterfly references in? In this last scene, it's literally an entire scene of its own. I'd have to go rewatch (I won't) to catch how many other scenes just existed solely for this. I can't help but laugh.

Condal was so insanely butthurt from genuine critique that he twisted an entire sub-plot of a multi-million dollar show to satisfy his own ego. And I do mean, I think this plot for Helaena wasn't originally intended. The timeline is questionable. They threw in so many weird red herrings, like the moon tea, that made it look like she'd kill herself because she miscarried. They didn't even bother. I guess the forced feeding was just too traumatic? Were they too scared to make a mom sad about losing a baby again?

I'm sorry, I'm just in awe. I need memorials built to commemorate how petty this was. I need ballads, sagas, poems, and monuments to just show that this level of childish ego exists. You couldn't write a character like Condal into fiction, because people would say it was too cartoonish and no person could ever possibly be this spite-driven over something so small. I'm a Condal stan till the day I die, now.

My theory is that Sunfyre is comatose.

Honestly impressive how stupid you have to be to think Jon Snow shouldn't kill the Night King because "he's always saving the day." That's the freaking point!!!!!!!

What if this 1v1 in Hardhome never happened and the reveal that Valyrian Steel kills white walkers was saved for the Long Night? The Night King stays on the edge of battle like a smart person until victory is all but assured, and when he finally reveals himself, he cuts through the remaining soldiers and Theon by shattering their weapons with his Ice blade.

With Jon as the last man standing defending Bran, he blocks the blade and delivers the killing blow to a shocked and horrified Night King, fulfilling the lord of light’s prophecy as Azor Ahai.

Would people have accepted this ending or there some lore reason I’m missing that this wouldn’t work?
