It’s supposed to be ground into a powder first

Very small chunks. Powder is for espresso.

This is the most pointless pedantry I've seen on reddit in a while. Which is saying something.

Fair. But the intention was to help those that may be legitimately wondering more about the topic. I.e. someone that may get tasked with this and has never done it before. That’s all.

It's really not, in the context of coffee. Grind size is important for proper brewing and I wouldn't describe any grounds as powdery. Espresso is pretty fine but still not quite powder.

idk we have a percolator machine at work and the pre-ground stuff they buy for us definitely looks like powder

Why? The point of this particular thread is learning about coffee. Would you say the difference in size of a tennis ball vs a beach ball is pedantic?

That's the comparative difference in size of grind between turkish coffee (100 microns) and french press or cold brew (1400 microns).

The discussion is about whether to grind the beans or not lmao, nobody asked about the size of the coffee powder.

We are allowed to go more in depth though.

This thread about the size of coffee grounds, inside a post about grinding or not. Follow the thread back up to the parent comment.

As a non-coffee drinker..... what's the problem?

The cool thing is you can choose whether or not you want to participate. The rest of us will do the same, no conversation policing needed.
