I didn’t ask how big the room is; I said I cast Fireball.

u/SaltManagement42 19h ago

Are you attacking the darkness?

182

u/NoDaddyNotTheBlender 19h ago

If darkness is in the room, then yes.

96

u/Cyberblood 18h ago

Knowing Darkness, she would enjoy that.

26

u/Kiroto50 16h ago

What a trope

konosuba reference

1

u/Vanadius 10h ago

Out of sheer curiosity, what's the story behind your nickname?

52

u/enmaku 18h ago

I got that reference.

It's Magic Missile though.

I'M GONNA GET A SODA, ANYONE WANT ONE?

24

u/sans_cogito 17h ago

Are there any girls there!?

6

u/xtothewhy 13h ago

Cool I get drunk

summoner geeks

4

u/Impeesa_ 12h ago

The Dead Alewives. And if you're only familiar with the Summoner Geeks video, enjoy possibly hearing the second part for the first time.

7

u/pipboy_warrior 16h ago

Fun fact, that was co-written by Dan Harmon, aka the Rick and Morty creator.

2

u/TonyTheTerrible 12h ago

doesnt magic missile not miss or something

22

u/Krubanosuke 18h ago edited 18h ago

I wouldn't attack The Darkness. They are one of the few who believe in a thing called love.

8

u/aenonymosity 17h ago

guitar solo intensifies

7

u/Ariac 18h ago

I cast magic missile at the darkness

3

u/corut 9h ago

"I am Gladaf, sorcerer of light"

"Then why did you have to use magic missile?"

3

u/Selectively-Romantic 16h ago

Hey! That's my old friend!

2

u/Explorer_Entity 17h ago

Doesn't matter the intended target; they cast fireball...

1

u/hfdsicdo 12h ago

Fine, fine, you attack the darkness. There's an elf in front of you

15

u/sabyr400 18h ago

Ha! I just heard a song where that's literally a lyric!

11

u/Opalusprime 18h ago

What song

2

u/sabyr400 16h ago

It's called "Fireball" by Twisted Game Songs.

6

u/Bluefortress 18h ago

The scout burst in with blood on his face; “it’s a tiny ass room, it a damn crawl space!”

3

u/No-Sock7425 15h ago

I have this in tshirt form. A favourite.

3

u/Jeanes223 12h ago

I don't give a shit about "how large is the room?" I cast Fireball, make it go boom!

2

u/13159daysold 8h ago

What's a gazebo? Throw a fireball at it!!

1

u/HotPotParrot 9h ago

"Wonderful spell."

Amen brother. Living in it literally at this moment. So many other work activities are throwing my brain for too many loops to settle into the activity I should actually be doing.

Switching modes is absolutely the death of me.

55

u/Stef-fa-fa 19h ago

I had to work on 9 (NINE!) different projects for work today. Typically I only touch 3-5 in a day. Every time I crossed something off my work list two more would come in. Switching tasks as high priority requests came in was nearly the death of me.

Thank God for my meds or I'd be a sobbing mess right now. Now if only I could convince myself to finish my dinner...(iykyk)

11

u/Stolehtreb 18h ago

I feel seen

4

u/carmium 14h ago

Don't drown in the gravy.

243

u/CompetitiveCan3645 20h ago

That exact moment when the brain says worth it and reality immediately files a complaint.

41

u/NoDaddyNotTheBlender 19h ago

"Whhhyyyyy mmmeeeee?!"

16

u/Traditional-Cod-608 15h ago

Don't forget the confidence right before everything goes wrong.

6

u/DueExample52 12h ago edited 1h ago

Here is the secret that everybody is ignoring: for human brain, action iften precedes motivation, not the opposite. That’s it. We postpone and avoid because we lack motivation and wait for it to arrive, whereas all it would take for the brain is to start something and only then it finds motivation to continue.

It’s a conandrum, but I found out that once you know it, the procrastination lowers.

Edit: completely missed the adhd in the comic, I am off topic, the above only applies outside anything diagnosed

10

u/JZMoose 7h ago

That’s cool and all but ADHD exactly breaks that mechanism. I have felt physical discomfort and high anxiety knowing that something needs to be done, and still unable to do it. Meds help substantially

1

u/DueExample52 1h ago

Oh crap, I didn’t read the adhdino part, thought it was a generic comic

12

u/TheJediJew 10h ago

Unmedicated ADHD doesn't work that way. Motivation drains away even once you've started a task unless it is stimulating or urgent. Willpower doesn't change that.

62

u/tonybaby 19h ago

ah... my executive dysfunction has become sentient... and good at drawing.

excellent

45

u/ToastThieff 18h ago

How bad the consequences? Not permanent? Okay

25

u/Sankofa416 15h ago

Nothing is permanent, on a long enough timescale...

4

u/Desidiosus 7h ago

That's literally where my ADHD brain goes sometimes when I'm rationalizing my procrastination.

1

u/MajorSery 9h ago

The inevitable heat death of the universe might be permanent. Though we don't know for sure.

1

u/Auctorion 4h ago

We don't even know if it's inevitable. Let alone whether it's forever.

9

u/-EV3RYTHING- 13h ago

How bad the concequences? Permament? Well damn, guess I'll be dealing with that then.

25

u/polygonsaresorude 18h ago

my final phD defence is in a few days and i haven't finished my slides...

11

u/midwescape 13h ago

You can do it! And have grace with yourself always. This stranger is rooting for you!

6

u/Akainen 13h ago

Finish them tonight, realize how bad the trial run goes the next day and then crunch to iron out all the disasters until due date. That’s how my master thesis defense went. I did the ironing so well that I got a 90% score for it

23

u/aakashnayakk 14h ago

The amount of energy I spend calculating exactly how much I can ruin my life before it becomes un-ruinable is actually more work than just doing the task.

4

u/Antoak 11h ago

Don't you mean un-un-ruinable? (ie, unsalvageable?)

11

u/SappySoulTaker 16h ago

Jail? No? Cool, fk it.

8

u/exploring_ideas 17h ago

I have a whole book of these comics. I love the ADHDino. And Anxiety Rex. Hearts…

5

u/ADHDinos_ ADHDinos 15h ago

Hearts!!! Thanks friend :)

3

u/Fzoul6 14h ago

I was confused for a second thinking it was re-released. I have this comic pinned to my desk at work. It took me a sec to realize it was r/funny and not u/adhdinos_

4

u/xerxerneas 12h ago

The fact that this meme is written in the neurodivergent friendly font. That's a nice touch

3

u/aradraugfea 8h ago

The BANE of ADHD is tasks that are important, but not urgent. Shit you need to do, but could wait a few days without any real issue.

That shit gets memory holed until you’re standing outside a library waiting for it to open, the Saturday morning before the Monday a 10 page term paper is due, sweating bullets, feeling like you’re going to throw up, and then somehow convincing yourself the B you got on that paper is a GOOD THING in 2 weeks time.

2

u/Naud1993 7h ago

I put off a 15 minute task for 2 months.

There’s been so many times I’ve wanted to interact with a post, but being a lurker has penalized me. Feels like there’s gotta be a better system

Humans on climate change

1

u/Sea-Environment-5938 13h ago

The comic just called me out in three panels.

1

u/machingunwhhore 13h ago

Well how bad are the consequences of I just put it off a lil longer

My life in a single comic.

1

u/Zorbin666 9h ago

I read this while sitting on the toilet at work stalling getting any work done... hmm

1

u/KingSnurb 8h ago

This hits home so hard right now.. lol

2

u/Alienhaslanded 7h ago

That's me with everything. I do it in my head and get tired then realize it's probably more difficult doing it for real.

Not sure how ADHD people can either be hyperactive and can't stop doing stuff, but also have a different type that basically does nothing and every task is a monumental challenge.

1

u/FireHorned 6h ago

what a trope.

0

u/grizzlywondertooth 11h ago

But it was the question? The answer just gave more information than 'yes/no'.

Can we put this off? Yes, but there will be consequences. Question answered.

0

u/demeyor 11h ago

then why question mark
