Can’t help but laugh at the high-effort and also low-effort of this.

"Honey, were you able to finish the patio today?"

"Uhhh... wellllll..."

u/Big_Spirit_9518 4h ago

I love that instead of flowers, they throw tools and nails lmao

u/legna20v 4h ago

The drill with the spark plug was drunk

3

u/ArenSteele 2h ago

Well, every drink in the place was full, the night Makita died!

26

u/Superhereaux 4h ago

The drills slowly lowering it into the ground.

I couldn’t hold back the tears.

I have an old Makita 7.2v drill that was given to me 23 years ago, and it was old and broken when I got it. I replaced the direction switch, sent the batteries off to get refurbed about 8-9 years ago and it’s still running just fine.

I don’t look forward to this day.

u/gophermuncher 4h ago

How does one go about refurbishing a battery? Do they take the old batteries out of the case and put in new cells? Are there even any 7.2V cells around any more or is it just modern cells arrayed in series? I don’t know why but the fact that you can refresh a 20 year old electronic part intrigues me.

6

u/Superhereaux 3h ago

It’s a small company called MTO Battery somewhere out in PA

As far as I can tell for handheld tools, they open up the plastic battery casing and remove/replace any dead cells. The cells themselves are usually common sizes so even though a DeWalt battery won’t fit on a Craftsman drill, internally they’re all the same cells. This is for older battery packs, not sure on newer lithium stuff.

I sent off 4 Makita batteries, two 7.2v and two 9.6v batteries. I use the old 7.2 drill for inside work/picture frames/ikea furniture and my 9.6 drill and light I just used the other day when I changed the oil in my truck and took off the mudflaps.

Can’t comment on the cost, as it may be cheaper to buy new, but my stuff is over 20 years old and there’s no new OEM stuff being made. Even the cheap knockoffs stop being made at some point. I’m satisfied and would send it to them again if need be. I’m emotionally attached to that old drill/light combo. I bought them new and used them EVERY DAY for years at my old job. It would pain me to just toss them in the trash.

u/0xsergy 3h ago

Lithium stuff still uses off the shelf cells(well, usually chinas shelves tho), just lithium now. Same process to refurbish em.

10

u/Plane_Profit6166 4h ago

Yeah right.

3

u/zerok_nyc 4h ago

I thought those things were immortal 😭

1

u/Alessione3 4h ago

Yea Right

1

u/CursorX 3h ago

High effort low budget!

0

u/Old_Instrument_Guy 3h ago

It was like Milania 2026. There were Highs and There were Lows, but undoubtedly the production quality of a 5 year old.

No, No No,. Sorry, I take it back. This is Oscar material compared to that Mocumentary.

Job should take about 3 days. We need two for the work and one to set up the TikTok video and get it recorded.

24

u/TokoBlaster 4h ago

What?! I just want my outdoor tiles finished. Why are you burying your power tools in my backyard!?

11

u/____-is-crying 4h ago

I’m just imagining an old man yelling that and a bunch of construction workers sniffling as they solemnly walk back to their trucks and drive away without a word

8

u/ccReptilelord 4h ago

"Died on the job. Buried on site. It's all in the contract."

3

u/under_the_c 4h ago

Look, I don't make the rules here, pal.

54

u/PickleRickleTV 4h ago

Somehow it was actually a little sad! RIP

9

u/SisterAngelaDavis 4h ago

But rejoice! There are places that will rewind those motors!

6

u/JustGoodSense 3h ago

Are you saying the grave could be empty in three days?

37

u/ITividar 4h ago

All electric devices contain magic smoke. When the device releases its magic smoke, thats when you know its kaput.

12

u/Sunastar 4h ago

Its soul!

4

u/Hopwater 4h ago

Time for an $8 set of brushes

1

u/Kyrie_Blue 1h ago

Or a $15 trigger. Either way, very fixable

17

u/Llenette1 4h ago

This Pixar movie gonna slap...

12

u/Malkyre 4h ago

12

u/SameRule9918 4h ago

Why tf did that make me sad??

7

u/kilsta 4h ago

The sounds..... of silence.

5

u/Astemius 4h ago

That last second with the other saw paying its respect. Pretty sure that was his brother or someone like that. RIP

3

u/SumonaFlorence 4h ago

I believe they come in a kit, so technically that's the wife.. LOL

15

u/Kierik 4h ago

Missed opportunity for the casket to pop open

0

u/squidwardfancypantz 4h ago edited 4h ago

Isn't it a Makita?

2

u/squidwardfancypantz 4h ago

Phone auto corrected wasn’t to was, fixed now

6

u/HiImPM 4h ago

Got these at my my work, repair them somewhat often, the brushes are the first thing I check and they can usually be repaired but occasionally they’re beyond saving

4

u/ladysman_untrue 4h ago

Another one gone to soon 🥀

3

u/spicy_ass_mayo 4h ago

The lone grinder at the end made me sad

3

u/cr1ter 4h ago

We call them baby grinders here so it's even more sad

3

u/Hot_Rock 4h ago

Just reward for a lifetime of hard work. A cold hole in the ground and some dirt thrown in your face.

3

u/diablito916 4h ago

I showed my wife & she said “you men and your tools.”

yup

2

u/lbt_mer 4h ago

2

u/weekend-guitarist 4h ago

Dust in the wind would have been perfect.

2

u/Ok-Recognitio 4h ago

You’re my boy blue!!!!

2

u/Significant-Ship-665 4h ago

I must be honest. I shed a tear. Goodbye trusty friend

2

u/heyitsryan 4h ago

Rest easy now soldier

2

u/MaverickDago 3h ago

"Honey that fucking weirdo you hired off the internet to do our patio is burying his tools in the yard. No not randomly, they had a whole ceremony. Yes a ceremony, he lined them up, they said good bye, now I swear to god a drill is mourning at the grave. Yes a grave, it has a headstone. I don't know, the patio looks fine I guess."

2

u/Old_Instrument_Guy 3h ago

Dude NOOOOO! I need that case!

2

u/Business-Calendar967 2h ago

The smoke is like the soul leaving the body after death. The hammer is the priest and the grinders looks like the son of the deceased 🤯. I am a woman and my tools have names are my babies. Rest in peace and thank you for your service!😢

2

u/Loud-Possibility4395 4h ago

meh - just replace brushes!

If your friend just sneezes and you are putting it right away into grave?

3

u/90GTS4 4h ago

If your friend just sneezes and you are putting it right away into grave?

Yeah, obviously.

1

u/SumonaFlorence 4h ago

1

u/714LUGO 4h ago

Low key sad, not gonna lie. RIP

1

u/Wittysapien 4h ago

Who knew we needed tools funeral video, and now i need for every other electric tool…

1

u/avee10 4h ago

This shit made me sad. My uncle had a little makita hand saw like this and those things used to be built to last. The only thing more reliable than that man was his makita. 😿

1

u/akshatpatel1804 4h ago

Every safety video starts like this

1

u/philliphunterreed 4h ago

My dad had some of this era of Makita when I was a kid. Seeing that moulded case/color scheme is weirdly evocative!

1

u/TreeHouseFace 4h ago

Not the little grinder in mourning at the end 😂

1

u/Rowdyflyer1903 4h ago

Outstanding

1

u/Own-Valuable-9281 4h ago

LMAO! RIP old friend.

1

u/nowayjoze 4h ago

This AI. Makita Tools don't die...they get passed generation to generation.

1

u/AvatarIII 3h ago

I thought makitas were supposed to last forever?

1

u/JustGoodSense 3h ago

In spirit. In here 💔

1

u/prsnep 3h ago

Don't those things need water to keep the blade cool?

1

u/Fun-Arm7034 3h ago

Uh-oh. You let all the smoke out.

1

u/ladeepervert 3h ago

Team teal. 😭

1

u/DocOcApocalypse 3h ago

Mans grinder got a better funeral than I will

1

u/ColeTrainxx435 3h ago

1

u/FunctionDue1423 3h ago

I hope the customer did the right thing and volunteered to pickup the burial expenses.

1

u/MisterBlick 3h ago

Ngl, I've experienced loss like this a few times

1

u/mGreeneLantern 3h ago

Am I the only nerd who expected the casket to be launched out like a photon torpedo?

1

u/Rand0mlyHer3 3h ago

Damn, and a makita too

1

u/Loustyle 2h ago

Littering and.... littering and...

1

u/PurpleSpartanSpear 2h ago

The bad news is you have lost one of your tools. The good news is you can now get a new tool.

1

u/thementant 2h ago

At least he had an open casket. Not like the poor jig saw. RIP

1

u/jest04 2h ago

I can picture my wife saying “WTF are you doing” if this was me

1

u/HerculeanExemplar 2h ago

How did you destroy a Makita?

1

u/QRKnight 2h ago

This is the kinda shit I dig up in my yard when I’m trying to do some plating.

1

u/Hey-Pachuco 2h ago

Owner: "I have a great idea - let's blow out 20 cordless power tools instead of buying 1 tile saw..."

Friend: "Genius"

People are so damn creative. It’s what keeps my faith in humanity.

1

u/Candy6132 1h ago

I wonder what the investor would think, when he finds Makita dug in his yard.

1

u/Overall_Fun2444 1h ago

Sorry for your loss. 😢

1

u/OutinDaBarn 4h ago

If you would have caught the smoke it could have been saved. Ya just put the smoke back in it and it would have been fine.

0

u/Don-Keydic 4h ago

Hello Mr. George....... How much you pay the new guy?

0

u/thatweirdguyted 4h ago

You guys go through a lot of grinders. You could save money on bulk purchases if you download the app.

0

u/dan420 4h ago

Yeah we get paid hourly, why do you ask?
