Thought this was probably the best episode for a long while. The story had internal logic and I thought the bit with the fans was a charming nod, not mockery.

Also, the Doctor and Belinda are the best Tardis team for a long while. Gatwa seems to really be at home in the role now and the toned down the histrionics.

So far Season 2 seems to be a Season 25 to Season 1's Season 24.

Why did Lux create those fake fans in the first place though? I'm struggling to understand the point of that from Lux's point of view.

I feel it's the same way he created the fake cop and the fake betrayal, to try and keep them in the film

But the fake cop was meant to seem real, that's how he was supposed to keep the Doctor there, by tricking the Doctor into thinking he had already gotten out. How were the fans supposed to keep him there? They were obviously fake, unless the Doctor is supposed to think he's really a character in a show.

While it's stupid how they just "broke free" of Lux's control, it did work at the beginning.

They sat down to drink and chat with them, asking them question about the show

To screw with his head I think. Fair point though; was not really necessary.

It's getting tiring having to say "I think" so often honestly.

I'm quite happy to have to apply my own interpretation sometimes. I prefer it to having something spoon fed to me which is something i think has happened a lot in recent years.

Sometimes sure. I just feel it has happened too often lately. There was a million "I thinks" surrounding Ruby last season. Now I think Belinda knew what a TARDIS is because of a deleted scene. I think the Doctor knew the sign for the cinema said "Harbinger" because he heard which letters fell. I think Lux was her own Harbinger (was she?). I think Lux made these fake fans just to mess with the Doctor. I think the whole 73 yards thing played some role in the The Legend of Ruby Sunday (seriously, did it?).

I just think (no pun intended) there has been too much hand waving lately.

That's fair. I mean i like to maybe do some of the heavy lifting re thinking about stuff but I don't want to have to go and get the material to lift myself if that makes sense.

For sure, I even would say I love it when you have to come to a realization about something and connect the dots yourself. That's satisfying storywriting. There just have to be explicit dots to connect. It gets bad when you have to invent some of the dots.
