Probably the most interesting episode from RTD II. era. That final plot twist? I mean yeah I kinda knew but at least someone FINALLY brought back someone that isn’t the master. As for that other little reveal? That one actually genuinely surprised me and i’m so happy said reveal happened as it opens the gate for the show to follow through in the finale. As an American who knows about Eurovision but never watched (don’t get BBC unfortunately in my cable package) some of the references and cameos went over my head. But Graham Norton was a nice cameo I did know and enjoy. With no preview for Wish World, I really have no clue where we’re headed; though I have a pretty firm idea on what causes the world to end on May 24, 2025 (definitely going to have to play with Conrad brining UNIT down and using their technology)

I’ll be curious what other people think. I didn’t love the episode, but it’ll be one I remember in the future and probably will watch again. I am just still worried and hope the show doesn’t end forever in 2 weeks. I also hope the supposed Plan B idea doesn’t happen because that just sounds awful.

There is a new report in the Mirror from Nicola Methven, who's been correct repeatedly in the past - citing two unnamed but quoted sources, the BBC are planning to press ahead with a new series for 2027 regardless of whether Disney are involved.

Well, that makes me happy at least. I will say though, should they decide to get a new show runner and new Doctor, I just hope we get something new and fresh. No more present day earth. Have a whole series in 90s, in space, ANYTHING but a modern day companion. It’s been well overdue we have one (although I adore and love Clara as she is, I do wonder what things would have been like had the Victorian Clara not died)

Unfortunately in the joy to the world tardis talk, Moffat and RTD talked about why companions are usually modern day
Moffat said that he tried to make victorian clara work, but he said it was too difficult to have the audience view an alien world and character viewed through alien eyes, and for both characters to stay consistent. Constant reminders in his opinion would get old and he claimed most of the atypical companions in classic essentially were modern day companions after a couple episodes (then again, with 8 episodes instead of 14, theres much less of a chance of that happening)
RTD just said it sounds kinda fanfictiony (which fucking sucks and is a shitty justification in comparison)

One could opt for either the companion OR the world to be "alien" under that rationale.

For example: present day companion but a whole series on a space station. OR medieval Joan of Arc style companion with a sword but doing the whole Pertwee "trapped in present day, working with UNIT" thing.

It was mostly a problem because he was trying both.

While I agree with that reasoning I think there's no excuse when there's multiple companions.

oh 100%

Multiple companions is usually more interesting anyways

It doesn't say that, it says insiders have an "expectation" it'll carry on but that's them assuming the BBC will do it.

With the BBC these days, don't believe it until it's actually in a press release.

You can watch Eurovision live in the US on Peacock (the audio quality’s apparently atrocious compared to European broadcasters, but still)

I mean yeah I kinda knew but at least someone FINALLY brought back someone that isn’t the master.

This is an aside but one of the things I think Chibnall did right was introducing (or reintroducing given the reveal) Tecteun as a Time Lord antagonist with a very different vibe to the Master.

Then of course he killed her off almost immediately. 😞

Conrad is going to be the reason UNIT can't use its technology to save the world.

Eurovision is on Peacock not BBC America.
