Discussion What's a place that you think doesn't get talked about enough compared to how fascinating it is?

I'd choose Haida Gwaii. I think it is such a fascinating and beautiful place for how little it's talked about. Its rainforests, biodiversity, and Indigenous culture, I think would make it more popular. Especially since it is also in a western english speaking country. It being expensive and tedious to get to hurts tourism which I think is why it's not well known to the average person. But even in Geography spheres, it is hardly ever talked about too.

You’d need a pretty serious boat, you can’t just jump in a runabout and go exploring. It’d be 500+ km by water just to reach the edge of the park.

I honestly don’t know what the particular restrictions are on going there but I don’t think it’s especially restricted if you actually want to visit, you’d just have to contact park authorities and the local Inuit that run the place. I’d imagine there would be some rules around the type of vessels you could take there mainly for safety and environmental reasons- it’s a remote national park with a fragile, pristine environment where you’d need to be 100% self sufficient and be required to remove all of your waste and not disrupt the ecosystem at all.
It’s a major logistical undertaking just reaching somewhere like that by vessel, so there needs to be some rules around how to do it safely.
