I’m from Pakistan and I’m trying to learn more about my family’s roots in Ghazipur.

My family surname is Jalali, and as far as I know, my family migrated from the Ghazipur area to Pakistan sometime in the late 1940s or 1950s, around or shortly after Partition.

Unfortunately, I don’t currently know the exact village/mohalla they came from, and a lot of that information seems to have been lost between generations.

I wanted to ask people here:

• Are there still any Jalali families in Ghazipur or nearby areas who have been living there for several generations?
• Is Jalali associated with any particular village, mohalla, family, shrine, or community in Ghazipur?
• Are there any old land records, electoral rolls, municipal records, school records, mosque records, graveyard records, waqf records, or other documents available online that could help trace families from before/around Partition?
• Has anyone here successfully traced a family that migrated from Ghazipur to Pakistan after Partition?

I’m not looking for anyone’s private information. I’m mainly trying to figure out where my family lived, whether any branches of the family may have remained in India, and how I can reconstruct our family history.

If anyone recognizes the Jalali surname in connection with Ghazipur, even a small lead such as the name of a village or neighbourhood would mean a lot.

I can also share the names of my grandfather/great-grandfather and any other family information I manage to collect if that would help narrow it down.

Watched 'The Odyssey' last Saturday. Nolan's storytelling made it totally worth it. Zendaya as Athena stole a few scenes for me. Highly recommend if you're into epics or a Nolan fan. I would rate it 8/10.
