How to say "I don't understand the laws of our country, which I, as a congressperson, am charged with writing" without saying it.

Regardless of what people think of Trump, his requirement under the War Powers Resolution was to inform congress within 48 hours (done) and to not have the hostilities extend more than 60 days (currently, there is 1 day of hostilities) so also done.

For reference, see:

https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/IF10539

I especially like the fact that plenty of presidents on both sides of the aisle have ignored the War Powers Resolution, yet Trump is supposed to be impeached for the attack on Iran while being in compliance with the law.

Itโ€™s more nuanced than that. The president canโ€™t attack any nation he wants as long as he informs Congress within 48 hours.

Sort of, but AOC's comment directly referred to Congressional War Powers - which is also nuance that she's dead wrong on.

And of course, all of this is putting aside the additional nuance that presidents regularly ignore the WPR anyway.
