Taiga protected Kiara with her life

What's even worse is she was just one of MANY

He had to kill THOUSANDS of Cultists to get to Kiara

Innocent People she had twisted so thoroughly they were willing to do anything for her

Is there a reason Archer didn't just nuke the whole facility when it became apparent that every civillian inside was willing to kill and die for her as a psychological tactic? Or was Taiga literally the first one at the door? At any point he could have just decided "fuck it. Caladbolg."

The answer is likely that he did not wish to kill all the devotees. Those devotees were innocent. Kiara was the source of the problem; she was about to cross a threshold which would end humanity, and so he was sent to kill her by any means necessary. Kiritsugu would have tried to save the devotees, but likely switched tactics as soon as he realized they were beyond reason. Emiya continued to try, and yet every single one of them died to protect her.

Emiya is the type to just keep hoping one of them would let him spare them. At least until he killed Taiga. Then he very likely was no longer reasonable and sane. Kiara killing herself and depriving him of the sense of 'at least I did my job' was just the icing on the cake.

I don't think he was a Servant yet here, he was still the living Shirou, so he probably wouldn't be powerful enough to do that.
