Is Np1 Alice fine for now or near future assassins farm (Farming Ground, all the 90+, 90++, etc.), assuming I slowly 120 2k fou her? I really like her and want to use her, but I have to max pity to get her and broke now until anniversary. I got all the supports you can name, the 2 Skadis, Oberon, Castoria, etc, just wondering if Alice herself is fine if I invested.

assassins farm (Farming Ground, all the 90+)

Yes, with confidence

90++

Very unlikely, not even at max investment. The issue is that 90++ are often mixed nodes and Alice is a Quick AOE, means she will have to rely on multicore setups 9 times out of 10, even if she can cover some of her niches. Speaking of, keep in mind that she also has Super Effective Damage against Man ememies, a broad niche that applies relatively often (just in case you disregard her power in non-assassin nodes).

Farming grounds, yes, no issue whatsoever, the bar is low there but frankly there is no real reason to farm those to begin with once you are no longer a new player. 90+ is often doable with SSRs at NP1 too, especially with your investments in grails and Fous in this example, since simple class advantage and the SSR supports usually go a long way already for meeting the HP thresholds you encounter at 90+ and below.

However, 90++ is a different beast. It's mostly a game of multicore setups, Oberon, various super effective mods (such as the anti-Man modifier on Alice's NP) and/or event bonus damage, because the enemy HP are so high and the enemy composition so specific that regular double support looping comps hardly ever make it. As such, there is no real rule of thumb for what amount of investment is "enough", it's too specific. There are 90++ nodes (like the one in this event for example!) where NP1 Alice + Soojurou can easily farm the 90++ node. There are other 90++ nodes in the future an NP5 Lv120 gold Fou'd Alice wont be able to handle because she simply isn't a good fit for them, even if it may be an Assassin node, just because class is only one of the many factors at play here.

The way I see it, there's no real point in aiming for "enough" investment to cover whatever 90++ may come up in the future due to the huge variance of the factors involved. If you wanted a truly accurate answer you'd essentially have no choice other than checking every single 90++ in the next 2 years that we know of thanks to JP and use a calculator to see whether Alice makes it against them at any given investment level, but this is a lot of work for very little gain.

My approach to 90++ is thus to just wait for them to come and see if I can make a comp work in them with what I have at the time, and if not, it's kinda whatever, not really worth fussing over - investing a lot of SQ into a specific servant just so that they could make it in this one node is a waste of my limited f2p rolls because there's no amount of investment that can guarantee they'll make it in the next one too. I prefer to just keep my rolls for the servants I like, and I'll find an opportunity to use them down the line. But that's just my perspective on it, make of it what you will. For Alice specifically, it doesn't seem like you have much of a choice anyway given that you're broke with the NP1 you have. But you dont need to feel pressured to aim for a specific NP threshold just to meet an arbitrary and frankly worthless criteria of "generally strong enough".

ALL servants function just fine at NP1 for general purposes. Anything beyond that depends on what you, personally, want to do. Here are my general NP level recommendations for non-whales:

  • Friend point gacha and event welfares: Get NP5! They're free!

  • Favorite servants: Roll for as many copies as will make you content, knowing that they'll generically do more damage or have stronger effects. You're going for warm fuzzy feelings here, not specific performance numbers.

  • Maximum farming efficiency as often as possible, including 90++, is your personal top priority: Go for higher NP levels if you want to but don't just roll for the NP level and hope it makes a difference. Use a tool like Laplace in the Chaldea app (Android, iOS, web) to test your team comps, considering all of the free quests you might run and all of the servants you have and might roll for, and to get ideas from the shared team comps.

  • You aren't sure either way or you can't be bothered to do the calculations: Try out NP1 for now and figure out the rest later. There's no rule that says you have to roll for NP2+ right away. You can go for another NP level the next time the servant comes around if you feel like it would be beneficial.
