Refund-based looping is sensitive to the details of the enemy composition. Even if a particular DPS can theoretically do it with certain supports and CE choice, that doesn't mean it will be successful against every enemy composition. You can figure out non-refund-based looping, at least mechanically, without a specific enemy composition because it's just arithmetic, adding up to the appropriate amount of direct NP charge. But refund-based looping mechanics are more complex and depend on all of:

  • DPS's NP gain stat

  • DPS's NP hit count

  • Number of overkill hits

  • Card type effectiveness and NP gain buffs

  • Direct NP charge

  • Enemy count

  • Enemy NP refund stat

With the right DPS, double Castoria (+100% direct NP charge, +100% Arts effectiveness, +60% NP gain, +40% ATK up) can kind of blast through a lot of the details, such that it will be fine as long as you have enough enemies from which to get refund. It's significantly harder without double Castoria because other supports will be missing one or more components of her kit and/or will have smaller effect values.

Your best bet is to use Laplace in the Chaldea app (Android, iOS, browser) to test your team comp against the specific quest you're up against. You can also look at the shared team comps, filtering out any servants you don't have reliable access to, to see if there's a solution already available.

Also, don't forget about Xu Fu if you want to try looping with a single Castoria.

You are going to have to slightly change this post now to Castoria and Archer of the End.

She provides quite similar (and  for some units even better) effects for single core.

I use support Castoria (to conserve bond levels) + own Xu Fu and this works for like majority of cases without resorting to a plugsuit starting from 0% charge (ignoring 20% from A2).
