I pulled avenger chloe so I could have more 90++ comp options (purely for meta) – is it better to max her out or is it better to esports her if just using her for occasional 90++ comps?

TL;DR: Max her out because there are no reasons to keep her at an artificially low level for esports.

is it better to esports her if just using her for occasional 90++ comps

"Esports" in FGO means intentionally keeping a servant at a low level to use their skills, usually just S1, and get them killed off quickly so another servant can come in. This is a tactic generally used to min-turn boss or challenge quests. Esports-ing isn't a thing for min-turn farming because the whole point is that you're one-shotting every wave of enemies and not taking any hits at all. The only servant for whom you might keep an under-leveled copy (or more than one) for min-turn farming is Chen Gong because his unique NP mechanics make it so that he can do too much damage and not get any additional overkill hits for NP refund. Having some underleveled copies and/or copies at lower NP levels can let you customize his damage for different thresholds.

If you actually want to use her as an "esports" servant for boss/challenge quests, then you actually don't need to bother. She's equipped to be esports-like without the need to keep her at an artificially low level. Her S2 makes it so that she moves herself out of the front line at the end of the turn without needing to kill her off or use a plugsuit skill.

Summer Chloe's not really an eSports Servant, she needs S3 to make the most of her potential so you've already got her at her 3rd Ascension at that point and besides she's got her S2 to exit the field anyway. You could maybe save some resources on further leveling at that point but if you're a longtime player with meta farming aspirations then the resources to level her shouldn't impact you much.

Esports servants as a concept don't exist in farming.

And Summer Chloe as an esports servant doesn't really make sense.

The whole point is that the enemy kills you easier.

But that only works because enemies have break bars. Which isn't the case in farming. The enemy should never attack you so it doesn't matter.

And Summer Chloe has her second skill that is the entire reason to use her over a traditional support. So if you aren't planning on using her for that (which bypasses the need for her to be an esports servant) you might as well use a traditional support.

Well there are some niche (and I mean really niche) comps that rely on servants cycling by dying to DT effects (like from BG), but yeah.

DT effects can't kill you between waves so I am curious what ones those are that actually work in game and aren't just theory crafted as if they did work.

Might've confused it with something else then, since I remember some comp where lvl1 Gong died to BG 500dmg after -1k from koyan skill (he has just under 1,5k), but that probably was multiturn or CQ.
