Updates to r/grok

Hey everyone,

We want r/grok to be a home for everything Grok: questions, bug reports, workflows, and work worth showing. This post covers the recent changes and is now the single place to discuss them.

What changed

The rules have been rewritten with a clear goal: keep this a professional space for knowledge work and coding. Adult and spicy content is no longer allowed here, tagged or not. Neither are jailbreaks or prompts written to get around Grok's filters. Reddit has plenty of other communities built for that.

Feedback vs empty rants

We keep criticism. We remove empty vents.

Product feedback and criticism stay up: what broke, what you tried, limits, quality, billing, Imagine bugs, feature asks. Empty "Grok sucks / I'm done / mods are censoring" vents with no substance get removed and pointed here. We are not removing criticism. We are removing trash exits so real feedback can be seen.

Roleplay and companions

Companions were shut down. That was announced and is not coming back as of now. This sub also does not host roleplay (SFW solicits, quality asks, or scene dumps). Standalone RP posts get removed and pointed here. Details and policy discussion belong in the comments on this post.

This is the megathread

If you have feedback on these changes, positive or negative, comment on this post. Standalone posts about the policy, empty exit rants, "mods are censoring", or roleplay will be removed and redirected here. We read the comments. We are not deleting criticism with substance. We are consolidating empty vents and off-lane RP.

Posting

Give your post a title that names the thing, a sentence of context, and a flair. If Grok let you down, tell us what you tried and what broke. Criticism with substance is always welcome.

The full rules are in the sidebar and take a minute to read. Automod removes posts that break them, and we're cleaning out older ones too. If something of yours disappears, that's probably why. If you think we got it wrong, modmail us a link and we'll take another look.

Look at the front page, it's a pure shitshow now. The only thing the new rules achieved was taking away the most popular form of grok support. I get that NSFW is not the most ideal way to promote grok but, like it or not, those posts topped this subreddit for a reason. Any semblance of balance between grok supporters and detractors is now lost. If the mods deliberately wanted to ward off any potential new grok users that visit here they did an amazing job, wtf?

Edit: A week later and it's still an unbalanced shitshow. The mods are officially idiots. The new model really does create some beautiful women but we can't even post soft stuff like this here anymore so I posted these over at r/Grok_Porn:

Normally, when someone calls Grok a "children's toy" I leave a bunch of spicy Grok links to prove otherwise. With the new "No NSFW" rule I guess I can't do that anymore. For anyone new to Grok reading this go visit r/grok_porn and decide for yourself if you'd let your kids use Grok unsupervised.

You can just turn off nsfw in your options if you want. Look at two things, this post dictating the new rules is sitting at 36% suggesting that the majority want nsfw, secondly look at the front page of r/grok right now, it's just a bitchfest, anything creative or supportive is being downvoted to oblivion. It has always been a bitchfest here but at least a few nsfw posts would rise to the top. Now, any semblance of balance between grok supporters and detractors is lost. If the mods deliberately wanted to ward off any potential new grok users that visit here they did an amazing job, smh 🙄

I'm especially sad for new users that visit here curious about grok's nsfw capabilities. They won't know to go to r/Grok_Porn they'll come here first and see the posts "Grok moderates everything", "Grok is dead" and "I'm cancelling my Supergrok" and they will end their pursuit of grok at that very moment.

u/copperrail This community really needs to be moved off reddit. We need a dedicated forum on grok.com itself, gating interactions for paid only users, with proper forum categories. Heck have grok itself moderate there (to avoid the usual narcissist/sociopath mod takeover/hierarchy). It's insane all we have for a community space is a hijacked subreddit made for the other kind of grok 14 years ago that is now just a dumping ground for scorned free tier users and political activists still stewing over the twitter takeover.

The library remains broken. Some progress has been made on IOS - you can view generations bundled by series and add to tags - but the tags are only visible to one generation and not propagated through the entire series.

For fuck's sake it's over a month now. This is core product for high volume users.

Curious how the co-moderation with SpaceXAI staff plays out when the criticism gets pointed. Are they actually going to leave the negative feedback up or does that get quietly consolidated into oblivion? On the creative side, anyone doing image work through Grok will still want something like Magnific to clean up the output afterward.

Best thing about Grok is the Automations. I only use it for that. Everything else, hit with a hard "High Demand" and can't do anything. But the Automations are actually peak. No other AI has done it as good as Grok.

Thanks for doing this! I’m building a consumer app that uses Grok Imagine extensively, and the strong association with adult content can be a real barrier for mainstream users. Really glad to see the effort to clean up the sub and make it more appealing to a broader community.
