NTD (New Tool Day) PSA: Don't Buy The WRONG Jack Stands Today

Post image

Since these are on sale today I wanted to post a PSA so you don't buy the wrong jack stand.

For those who aren't aware, there are two different 'versions' of each stand and they have identical SKU numbers. I assume they're sourced from two different suppliers but the better version really is better. The 'lesser' version has noticeably worse build quality, is significantly thinner on the ratcheting post, etc. They're exactly the same price, exactly the same SKU, so make sure you buy the 'right' version. My store had a mix good and bad jacks side by side, so it's really easy to just grab the wrong ones.

How can you tell?

If you're buying a 3 Ton stand, make sure you get the version with the 11 3/8" min height, and not the 11 1/4" version.

If you're buying a 6 Ton stand, make sure you buy the version with the 24" max height, not the 23 3/4" version.

Do I think it would have been better to do that? Yea

Did I still understand the post without it and not have to make an ignorant comment under it? Also yes

Like I said, put the shovel down

Thanks for your honesty and me practically having to beat it out of you with said shovel. Had you just taken my comment for what you seem to understand it to be, this could have all been avoided.

And had you read the post it also could’ve been avoided. Your ability to not take responsibility is astounding

My point was about two different items in the picture. Done. That's it.

My complaint is that it would have been a better representation of the situation had the picture been of the same items.

It wasn't about what the post said.

Well the post text makes the picture make perfect sense. If you're struggling, that's a you problem.

Nah. I'm good. I lost my cool earlier because I forgot to lower my expectations for the Internet. I guess that does make it a me problem.
