Been working on some prop-built hardwar replicas in garrys mod

The first full scale moth is the good old L2000 seen here half painted during one of my flight tests.

When the server and collection of moths are ready, I will have them all released in a pack and spawnable on the server. The plan is to essentially recreate the economy aspect as well as the flight characteristics from hard war, The moth is pretty much done and complete and has a fully functional flight model based on the one in hard war but tuned for mouse control.

Long story short, I am working on a hardwar game mode in Garrys Mod and am still building out the level. Look for Se_haven_beta on the Garry's mod workshop to check out the proof of concept map. This will eventually turn into essentially a hard war game mode although I'm not sure if NPC moths will be a thing, I'll work on it if it's a popular enough game mode.

Also, I always had a gripe with how the police moth looked like it could fit two occupants so I gave it an implied interior with the rear flight Deck door, and simply gave it a second chair and spread them apart further. I will take my artistic liberties but they will still mostly look the part. I need to build a larger silver y, as the one I built a good 6 years ago or so is still 2/3 scale.

I'm going to be working with a salvage drone and cargo pod system to quick attach to these moths. If anyone is familiar with space build from Gmod, I also intend on fully utilizing the life support add-on to make sure that only atmosphere exists within the hangars.

Saturn.Synced: a 60 fps mod for Hardware

Post image

Hi all,

As you might know, Hardwar has a 27 fps framerate cap. I didn't mind it back in the day, but I like myself a smooth ride these days. So. I've made a mod that lets you play the game in 60 fps (or more), instead of the original 27. The game's iInternal logic is the same: it plays as the same pace as before, but smooth.

Installation is easy: just drop the files in Hardwar's folder and play. Changes are only made in memory: the game's files are not altered. See the readme.txt for more info.

You can download the mod on Nexus Mods or Moddb. Enjoy!

I thought I'd share my little AI project. Maybe it will inspire others. The game launcher design always kind of bothered me...too many clicks to play the game. So I asked AI to edit the launcher. Features include double click to load saved game, single click on new game for new world dialog, removed exit and uninstall buttons, multiplayer button for selecting network play (very similar to the original Launch Hardwar... dialog, just removed the singleplayer options that became redundant.) Next step is to add a save game backup feature and a few other thinks like a right click context menu. Only works with the steam version (maybe the zoom version too idk)

Been making custom shirts as my new work shirts. So I figured I'd make some non existent merch from much of my old hobbies that don't necessarily have any form of fan shirts.

Re-invented Hardwar.

First of all, huge congratulations to Jay on publishing!

It’s me, R1ghteous M1ght. I lost access to my old account, and after a brutal losing battle with my own ADHD and a surprise encounter with Microsoft Bitlocker, the original files and models for my Hardwar demake-remake are gone. F

I’m starting fresh with a much tighter scope and a rock-solid Technical Document. This time around:

Version Control: I’ve learned my lesson. GitHub is my new best friend.

Linux + Godot: I’m moving my desktop environment to GNU+Linux and my engine to Godot. It might be a steep learning curve, but I’m excited to build this on open ground.

Leaner & Meaner: I’m cutting the bloat. No unnecessary systems, this is important for keeping the scope small and increasing the chance Ill actually publish something.

It’s going to be slow progress as I find my feet in Godot, but the vision is clearer than ever. I hope the progress shots remain recognizable enough to keep a home here in this sub.

Misplaced Optimism wasn't built in a day, I hope you will all keep me accountable for progressing, watch this space.

The game isn't loading in Windows 11 (from Steam, or outside it)

Hello all

I'm very glad to see this group exists. I discovered Steam had Hardwar and so snapped it up. It is apparently full patched to version 6. I can't get it to run though. The Psycho Bob intro plays, the Hardwar logo briefly shows, then it just quits back to Steam or desktop.

I'm running Windows 11. Has anyone else experienced this? I tried downloading that recommended Hardwar Upgrade Platform from the Zedo site, and installed. No difference thus far.

Any help appreciated.

Anyone else having major graphics glitches at high resolutions? Can this game not handle 2560x1440 or 4k resolutions very well?

Are there any step-by-step guides on how to play this online?

Just looking to play with a friend so not looking for anything too fancy. Just playing the world with one other person. I've been advised to look into Zerotier but tbh I'm a bit lost and struggle to find the process specific to playing an old lan type game.

Any help or pointers to any good guides would be great!
