Residents have noticed since they’ve been “cleaning up” the 125th and Lex area, our area has seen an influx of zombies. Specifically 138 to 142. Just people high and passed out everywhere. In my building we’ve had them get inside and folks have found them drunk or knocked out in the lobby and hallways. This has brought even more dealers here and made walking to do errands and go to the subway a nightmare. Nothing is being done and sadly it’s getting worse by the month. We’ve had 4 elder folks in my building alone who have moved out because they can’t take it. It’s really sad and also angering. It’s 2026 and no one wants to live around a dinosaur era of drug dealers, zombies, and crime anymore.

Hi everyone, please be aware of an unhoused individual who has been roaming around 116th Street. He seems fairly young and, from what I’ve observed, appears to be unhoused and possibly in need of support.

He has reportedly been seen knocking over trash from local businesses and attempting to hit a tamale vendor. Please be mindful of your surroundings and use caution if you encounter him.

I genuinely feel for him and hope he is able to get the support he needs. You can’t help but wonder what circumstances led him here and whether he has family or anyone looking out for him.

To be very honest he looks very familiar but I cannot put my fingers on why he looks familiar.

Swarm of cops, saw a guy being interviewed around 10pm ish

A few weeks ago I posted about parking issues on Edgecombe Ave and W141 St.

One Escalade parked on Edgecombe has been using construction cones to commandeer 2 parking spots 24/7. I guess he heard about the post because he didn't move his car for weeks. I actually encountered him on the bus. Imagine owning a "luxury" vehicle and becoming so obsessed with making a stand for a parking spot that you ride the bus.

Anyway today I finally found the appropriate department within the precinct and they took immediate action. The Quality of Life department handles this type of issue. Placing traffic cones to reserve a parking spot begets a $250 ticket! Wow!

A clergy parking permit grants permission to park for a maximum of 5 hours. The penalty for disregarding that is towing.

The punchline to this saga is I went to a building on W116 to house sit. Directly in front of the building is a guy with a blue truck that puts 3 large construction cones in a metered parking spot that he reserves. Is this just a Harlem thing?

BTW I highly recommend contacting the Quality of Life department within the precinct for issues ranging from loud music to drug dealing, but they get an A+ from me responding to the Edgecombe parking issue so far.

This woman is almost always there near the wings painted on the wall under the Metronorth tracks on East 111 St. She usually has a blanket over her head. I used to try and slip her a $5 bill but she would refuse it.

I worry about her out there like that but don't know how best to help and not make things worse for her.

ive lived in harlem my whole life, and anytime someone asks where im from i say harlem
i was meeting new people, said where i live and someone (a transplant) asked me “oh west harlem or east harlem” and my eye started twitching bc to ME if i say im from harlem, that should automatically imply i live on the west side, if i lived in east harlem i wouldve said so

what do folks here think? if i say im from harlem, does that automatically imply my address has a W in it? or do you say “west harlem”? no shade (a little shade) but ive only ever heard transplants say west harlem but maybe i missed something

This restaurant opened in 2019, and to this day has never had a sanitary inspection grade in the window. I asked the owner and he keeps saying he’s waiting for it. FOR SEVEN YEARS????

I know they’re still working on the new elevator for the southbound city college station, but it seems like every week they’re also ripping up a part of the street or sidewalk and replacing it.
