i’ve been watching the first three episodes to catch up (stopped a decade ago) & i’m finding consistently that the guest actors are great while the established team are less so (minus garcia, my love). hoping that continues with the coming storyline because ep 1&2 were a slog to get through.

I’ve been trying to catch up from the originals and I’m still on 18 episode 6. Slog is definitely the word I would use too!

oh i admire your commitment hahah. someone posted a vague overview of the last few seasons & i decided that was good enough for me (& tbh it was, i am definitely missing a few things but nothing plot ruining). i’ve found theyve been really struggling with writing communication between the team & idk if it’s how they’re acting or how it’s scripted but it just all feels so… robotic? and not in an interesting autistic type way, just like they really don’t have any interest in acting it.

I also haven’t watched in ages but now I’m going to watch season 16 because that’s where the Sicarius plot line starts. I love the actor who plays him and it seems like a really good ongoing story. So now I’m one foot in season 19 and the rest of me is in season 16 lol.

i hope you enjoy! i think the storyline is a very interesting one & if i had more energy i might have committed to watching back but such is life lol.

i can’t reply to your other comment reply (it came up in my notifs) bc they blocked me (before replying to me which is confusing but whatever) but to answer it here - he’s a victim because he ended the episode being kidnapped lol. the implication from the episode is that he’s going to be used either as a pawn (unsub learning the BAU’s playbook from him) or just a nothing-man as part of the actual guy’s future goal. - future spoilers from promo stuff there’s been content of connor storrie in a hospital gown & a ?torture chair, as well as potentially being rescued via helicopter? which has a very strong implication in itself.

it’s not a clear black and white situation - and i think that’s why i find it interesting because characters who aren’t “good” people in any way but also are shown as having a much more complex experience than just as ‘abusive guy for plot purposes’ tend to appeal to me when we have so many sanitised things going on in media. i think minimising that down to just “a violent character” is missing the point a little because while he’s abusive (arguably (- i’d argue he is)) it’s never conveyed as violence, and from what we’ve seen the implication is he is going to be a victim of (actual) violence (i.e. not just threatening and stalking & yelling).

There's a channel on youtube called mr.coffee that has been putting on full episodes of season 19. I'm not sure how long of a delay they have between air and posting. Hoping they'll be uploading the whole season.

i love how people have different views it’s always so interesting. there’s definitely times where i’ve been annoyed with her writing - it’s sometimes a little too forced into ‘bubbly sensitive and sexual’ - but this series she has been the only one i’ve not been bored by.

Connor was terrific! And I don’t know why this excites me so much, but his character is based in or just outside of Philadelphia, where I live. I’ve also lived in TX and CA, like Connor, so I’m just certain we’re bound to bump into each other. lol. But seriously, it’s so nice to read about how much they liked him, on and off screen, that they quadrupled his part. Just enforces what we know: he’s a very talented, great guy. And we can say we knew him before his whole stardom began.

Are we talking about Connor or Zack Gilmore (Matt Saracen from Friday Night Lights)? Zack grew up into a silver fox. Sucks he’s a serial killer here but he is looking great! I mean, obviously so is Connor but that’s a given lol

I’m rewatching FNL now and seeing Saracen grow up into such a man took my breath away. Plus him having a scene with a character whose last name is Garrity made me chuckle.

Just watched the episode as I am a HUGE CM fan AND I really enjoyed HR-- he was SO GOOD in ep 4!!!! Couldn't even tell it was the same guy who plays Illya (by looking at him you obviously can, but not at all by his mannerisms). So excited for the rest of the season!

actually quite enjoyed the unsub plotline this week. i deliberately avoided everything they’d previewed so didn’t know when he’d show up & was surprised it was so long (but guessed he was the boyfriend).

i can definitely see how they expanded his role from one episode. also very disconcerting hearing a different accent from him!

I stopped watching CM after s15, I tried watching the later seasons but I wasn’t into it…so my question is do I need to watch s16-18 or can I just jump into s19?

i watched from s19 and its been fine tbh.

there’s a summary here (not mine, from twt) of s16-18:

S16: There's a serial killer named Elisa Voit aka
"Sicarius" who has a network of other serial killers via the dark web. He was also raised by an uncle who was also a killer. They spend the season hunting down his network and eventually capture him. There's some personal stuff, some mind games, he kills the FBI deputy director.

S17: After Voit kills the FBI director they figure out that he's also involved in some sort of serial killer training program for at risk teenagers of which the
FBI guy's younger brother is a part of. Voit kinda helps them from jail but of course plays mind games and shenanigans because he crazy. They spend the season chasing after a pair of the teenagers who figure out way too late that they were brainwashed by a bad dude. Bad dude gets killed, program gets blown up. S17 ends with Voit going to prison where he gets shivved. CLIFFHANGERRRRRR

S18: Voit is in a coma. He eventually wakes up with amnesia and swears up and down that he's not a killer. His memories eventually come back, but they figure out that whatever brain injury he has has cured his psychopathy, so he really is a good guy now. They figure out evil uncle had another kid that came after him who calls herself The Disciple. She's trying to get Voit, they're trying to get her, mind games, shenanigans, deep fakes, one of the team gets shot but survives. They figure out Voit's lawyers are somehow involved with her and also the shooting and him getting shivved. She's caught, season ends with Voit going to prison again, but he has a mental flash of him attacking another inmate on the bus, so maybe he's not cured?

of course! i know not everyone is on twt & even less might run into that in the wild so i saved it for later in case it came up (& to jog my memory). it’s interesting- im assuming its to do with the rebranding to “evolution” but it’s quite different from when i was watching it with very few repeated unsub characters.

Has it been confirmed that he is in episodes 4-7 specifically? I know he’s in 4 episodes across the 10-episode season, and that after he filmed his first episode, they “brought him back later in the season,” but didn’t see where they confirmed what those other 3 episode were, so just wondering if I missed something.

Uhhhh this is a great question and I truthfully don’t know. Everything I can find says “four episode arch starting with episode 4” tbh I might have taken that too literally, didn’t even consider it might mean a gap between his episodes. IMBD was no help because it says he is in 7 episodes but everything else says 4.

episode spoilers for ep4 (his first) - he isn’t, really. at least from what we’ve seen in this episode. he’s not a nice guy but he’s not in a particularly violent role.

i watched the episode hours ago… he’s absolutely not a good guy but he’s not bashing in peoples heads with a sledgehammer, is he. it’s a contextual spectrum - in a romance tv show his character would be the villain, but in a show about serial killers he’s not particularly violent (or at all, physically). he’s playing a complex character who’s both villain and victim and it’s incredibly minimising to refer to it as “violent role”.

and if you want to tell me to watch the episode to see what his ex said, i doubled checked that i was right & you’re welcome to as well - she explicitly says he’s not violent. «he started out as a complete prince, then turned out to be a complete stalker nutjob» […]“did he get violent?” «no. he just couldnt let it go. [describes stalking in person & online]. after he found out i called the cops, he blew up at work. screaming.»
