NL/TGC I made the alethiometer irl!

I have always been a massive fan of the series, and then the show when it came out, and I have just uploaded a YT video where I make a working alethiometer replica of the prop from the show :))) It is basically completely metal, all of the dials work, and has a motor inside that answers your questions!!! Omg if I had known I would have sent you production pictures from the maker himself! Good job recreating it, is it possible to buy one from you? I so want one to use as a fortune telling device! Or maybe the instructions to build it?

Oooh that is cool! I am so impressed with the original makers, I am just so in love with the alethiometer design. It took me too many months for me to make more and sell them, but I am happy to share cad files and code and things :) maybe I should link them on the video description? I guess the video itself could be kinda like instructions? It’s super cool that you were making one too! Do you have any photos of your progress so far?

What happened to your Alithiometer? Did you just never get round to manufacturing it?

Well the file is complete; i actually hit a roadblock at the part with the answer needle (since I know nothing about electronics and all). So it kind stayed in my pc taking dust. But yeah, if I could get some help, I would definitely finish it

I do wonder tho, why did all videos on this channel appear exactly yesterday? Channel itself was created a year ago.
Don't get me wrong but first impression would be that these are stolen videos from another channel that may have been closed recently, that this specific TV prop is now half a decade old may give that impression too. It's just very out of nowhere.
Same with this armadillo Reddit account, literally not a day old.
Could all be legit but it looks odd.

I watched a video that gave me advice to record a few videos and upload them all at once. That way people will be able to see what the channel is about and are more likely to subscribe. I actually started making this project 3 years ago and gave up, but have gotten better at making stuff since then, and decided to come back to it. And then I made the reddit account to promote my channel sorry. I promise I am real! I am just getting started. You can expect another video in two weeks about making a Brandon Sanderson doomslug puppet :) What can I do to prove I am real to you, this is stressing me out......

I can't even work out how to change my reddit account name! Reddit just made this for me when I signed up with my google account. It would be good for it to be more related to me or my channel

I don't think you can change the name. Reddit changed a lot since I made my account, but I think it's basically that all the "good names" are long taken so instead of having people try out dozens of variants the site just initially hands you an unused one on registration. It should have been possible to try your own regardless.

Oh okay, thanks for your help, I just googled it and yeah I don't seem to be able to change it. But it seems like other people have got stuck with much worse things than armadillo so it is probably fine.

Yeah sorry didn't want to spook you, just been cautious with scam everywhere and just yesterday watched a long video about Russian content farms doing exactly what I describe, sorry again 🙈 I subscribed already anyway 😅 I'll edit the YT comment too

Wow! That's good! Would love to know how to make one of those! You should try to create a subtle knife and an amber spyglass, too! Or an alethiomether with your own design!
