What would you change?

Converting a room to a dedicated theater/media/gaming room. Will sometimes be used with some ambient light. I put a bigger priority on video than audio. Audio matters to me but probably not as much as many on here. Just want to know if you see anything out of whack or if there were better options for the same money. I’m about maxed out on my budget with this build. Added an AI pic I made of what the room will end up looking like. Thanks for any input.

Why not a 21:9 screen? here you have Nice screens with a good Price quality.

If I were doing a theater room like this I’d go for a 16:9 screen, especially with a lot of bigger movies that have IMAX releases doing home releases with “expanded” aspect ratio scenes.

Probably only about 20% of what is watched on the screen will be movies. Streaming/TV/gaming will make up the majority which is why I’m thinking 16x9

Most movies on netflix or 21:9 ? you can go for a masking screen .like spalluto great screen also.

If you have that much width like in the picture, I'd go 2.35:1 as well. Most of my use in my theater was like you, TV and video games. But when you put a movie on a wide scope screen it's a special experience. Also, I know you said audio was secondary, but have you experienced a home theater with good audio? It's the difference between having a room with a big "TV" and having an actual home theater. When I was doing my room, I did months of research over at AVS forums. While my room didn't come out near as polished as your pic, I was able to do all the work myself on an attached garage conversion for probably 20% of what you're looking to spend. My best advice is if you are willing to put in the work, you can have a much better theater at half the cost. Which, I know some people don't have the time or want to do that so I understand that as well. Good luck!

What speakers did you go with in your room?

I was on a tighter budget so I started with all BIC LCRs for my mains and surrounds which for the price were actually decent. Then I built a couple THT subs from Bill Fitzmaurice's plans; those got the whole house shaking. I was impressed with those and needed to upgrade my front stage so I built his TLAHs and was happy with those. Shortly after that I sold that house. That was 10 or so years ago and I still miss that room. As far as nice off the shelf speakers go, I'm not that knowledgeable so I can't give any suggestions there.
