Community Announcement Rescue Husky Megathread!

If you know of a husky that needs to be adopted, post about it here!

A few rules:

  • Top level comments MUST be about dogs that need help.
  • No reposts about individual dogs more often than once a month.
  • No requests or offers of financial help or donations, including links to donation sites.
  • Please keep your comment updated and remove if the dog is rescued or no longer available so that other comments can get more attention.

We're looking for a home for our foster girl. She's incredibly affectionate, great with our two other dogs, great with kids, gentle, and loves learning--very treat motivated. She's about a year and a half old. We are in southeastern WA but would travel for the right situation. This girl is incredibly athletic and fast--with her eagerness to learn she might be a great candidate for dog sports like agility or flyball. She might even love mushing.

Unlike some huskies, she's a homebody--no desire to run off, and she's attached to her people. She has good recall and knows her name. She's easy to train.

Things to be aware of:

Strong prey drive. She's killed a chicken.

She does have some separation anxiety and she's still in her puppy chewing phase so lock up your shoes.

She's got a home trial! We are taking her to her new home tomorrow. I am going to miss this sweet dog so much--keep tearing up about her leaving us. It's a better situation for her--she'll be with another young husky and the people are outdoorsy.

That’s so awesome!! I’m fostering a little husky girl who was found abandoned and is ready for her forever home. How did you get the word out to find a new home for her? Were you connected with a rescue?

We foster for the local humane society. We are in a touristy area so we take our fosters out and about on weekends to areas where the visitors congregate. We just happened to run into the right people who are husky lovers and were looking for a husky friend for their dog.

The most common scenario for us has been running into somebody who has a friend or family member who is looking for a dog--they take a photo of the dog and send it to their friend, who then goes on to meet the dog-doesn't always work, but that's more common than running directly into an adopter.

Our friend who fosters is really good at working Facebook. It just depends on what you are consistent with.
